Makes no sense to walk from a championship winning car, and he has a contract for next year with Mercedes. Lauda also confirmed in Japan they want to sign him up for longer.

So a site just desperate for hits, and making up garbage claims to get them.

That's monumentally silly thing to post as news... To walk away from a Mercedes drive would require either balls or ego so large you wouldn't fit the offending body parts into an F1 car.

I wonder though- How much Money would Honda have to give either LH or NR to walk away, 50million+ :-)

I could see rosberg leaving - especially if he loses the championship - but not lewis.

Fernando would jump to a mercedes seat in an instant.

Maybe Hamilton hasn't had a happy year at Merc - none of us can know the internal politics.

I understand his relationship at McLaren was with Ron, not Whitmarsh.

All he needs to be thinking is; "Blimey, I was happier than this at McLaren."

Also, Lauda hasn't yet claimed to have a signed contract with LH.

It's the car that's winning races this season not the driver. If Honda/McLaren get the car right it will win races regardless of who drives it, if it's another dog then it doesn't matter if they go for Alonso, Hamilton or Chilton, in fact Chilton would be the better bet because he's cheaper.

Neither Hamilton nor Rosberg have been outstanding in previous years (excepting Hamilton's early years), this year's Mercedes is making them both look better than they are imo, just as Brawn gifted Button a championship in 2009.

That's right. Button, Hamilton, Rosberg... and go back further Stewart, Lauda, Senna, Prost, Mansell etc. etc. all won their drivers championships in cars that also won the constructor's title. Probably looked better than they really were.

He was trying to get to the Merc factory and ended up at Mclaren!

Really? Hamilton is arguably one of the best drivers in F1, I suspect if all teams had to write a driver wishlist Lewis and Button would easily make the top 10, if not 5.

I really don't think Lewis or Nico would walk away from what is head and shoulders the fastest car, even if they loose at the last second due to stupid double points nonsense. I also find it hard to believe any team will be able to close the gap on them for 2015, at a few moments we've seen that the Merc can pull whole seconds per lap on everyone, even on less than ideal rubber. I suspect they've only been allowed to go to Full power a fraction of the time to keep their powder dry.

Barring an actual miracle I would wager 2015's WDC is for Lewis or Nico already!

The current Mercedes is at least a second per lap faster than the best of the rest and both Hamilton and Rosberg are benefiting from that advantage. Alonso is about the only current driver capable of dragging a slow car further up the grid than it has any right to be, and solidly outperforming his team mate in the process, I can't remember either Hamilton or Rosberg (or Button) doing the same in recent years.

The same argument has been made of Vettel, despite his 4 world championships there will always be a question mark over any driver who only wins in a dominant car. This season Ricciardo is making Vettel look quite average whereas back in the Torro Rosso he didn't look anything special, how many other drivers would be in contention for the title if they were driving this years Mercedes?

Do believe it's nonsense but until they publically confirm he's signed a contract then there's no definites, especially in F1.

When talking about how good drivers are, I always compare them to their team mates as the most fair comparison. But obviously that's not so easy either, as all the tin foil hat theories of car sabotage and the like come out.
