I'm looking forward to it. I'll critique it after the race, which I will be going to.

How much did they pay Tilke to design that?!

Surely he just drew it onto a google maps print out?

I know Baku very well and the circuit is far better than the layout would suggest.

There's some dramatic elevation changes, particularly around the old town and the 90 degree bends are on vast expanses of tarmac so expect a couple of near flat corners

Dont understand the negatively. Who wants to see the same old (and it seems people like the really old ones best) circuits year after year. Motor racing needs to appeal to a younger crowd, who drive around cities not the countryside. Exciting circuits in glamorous locations that people can actily relate to will popularise the sport.

Yeah - crap old circuits like Spa, Monza and Suzuka. Get rid is what I say.

Shiny and new and laced with gangster/despot cash - that's the way forward for F1.

Looks good to me. Street Circuits can be good racing if the roads are wide enough. Lots of fast straights into right angle corners that have several different lines should make for some good overtakes.

Hopefully Bernie will either be ousted or dead before this can materialise properly.

The only positive I can see is that they'll be able to bus in a load of Syrian refugees to make the stands look full.

I'm not sure how many F1 fans will/can relate to Azerbaijan... other than a drinking game points scorer during Eurovision :-)

Hands up who knew where it is without looking it up?

Its another interesting, questionable, near war zone, no known motor industry destination... sure F1 should let other formula lead the way, F1 should be the reward for staging everything else properly first?

Is this the same circuit that they used for GTs last year ?
