Just had an email from them, saying we can now pay for next years tickets on the monthly, at 0%apr. Is this the answer to the very high ticket price??

I got the same email today. I thought it was great that they finally realised that ticket prices were to high and were doing something about it.

Surely lowering them is doing something about it?

Yes I know it's not possible, cost to hold the race blah blah blah but the point stands.

Did they reduce the ticket price by 13% when they increased the circuit length by 13% in 2010 ? After all, you get to see the cars for 13% less time as a result !

Very good point regarding the number of times you see the cars pass before you and the length of the race. This has been an important criteria for me when choosing which grand prix to go to. eg Belgium is great but I did feel that I hadn't seen enough of the race because of the small number of race laps.

Similarly for Monza you get 1 hour 20 minutes or so of race action v Singapore where we got the full two hours (albeit because of the safety car)- that is 50% more race time at Singapore.

I feel the sport needs to address the falling numbers in its race attending spectator base. The potential new younger new attendees must surely be put off by the high cost barrier to entry of ticket prices?

PS The Silverstone circuit length increased by 14.6%

True, but you had to wait less time to wait for them to arrive next time though.

All depends on your grandstand. Being in one of the Luffield stands used to be good value as you could see the cars through the slower sections and thus a higher % of the lap time, whereas at some of the faster spots the % was lower so less value for money.

For me the ticket price is not even close to me considering going. Needs to be around £50/day max, £100/weekend and even then I wouldn't consider it a cheap day out.

I have always had free tickets, but not recently though.

Every year I keep hoping there will be free tickets available through friends or work,
so there is no way I am spending £150 just to stand up all day.

I guess I have been spoiled in the past, and most people have had to pay through the nose every year.
A decent Silverstone sponsor should be able to subsidise the ticket prices.

Our F1, like our lives, businesses, country and authorities should not be relying on subsidy and gifts to sustain itself. If it, (and the teams, circuits etc within it)cant make the case, that justifies F1's own existence on its own merits then prepare for things to change or fail.

Its a fun weekend for sure but IMO no more than another type of racing which is usually about ten times cheaper. I think me and the missus spend about £1k (tickets alone were about £750 for both of us I think) over the whole weekend a few years back. Its the usual festival experience - £5 burgers, £2.50 bottles of water nonsence with from what I remember, few options for nice alternatives.

Ludicrous amount of money and really not worth it. I think I enjoyed the porsche cup races more paperbag

Ive been about 10 times over the years, full weekend, sat, sun of sometimes just Friday.

This year was the crunch for me. It was just too much, it felt wrong.

I probably wont go again.

Its a good idea and I hope it helps people.

I do feel for Silverstone, they have to afford the race because they cant just pull a "well the fees are too high so bugger off" routine.

So not including the best category grandstand tickets? That was included in my £1k.

General admission means you have to be up and queueing for a limited space at 5am.
