Hi there F1 fans one and all.

Planning to go to the British GP next year (on the Sunday only), and as a bit of extra spice (well, it is MrsT's 60th birthday next year) we'd like to consider some extras to the day, rather than just grandstand seats - such as pitlane access, or some hospitality.

Has anybody experienced any such thing at previous British GPs? How much did it cost, was it worth it, and how did you get it organized?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.thumbupthumbup

Silverstone offer range of hospitality packages direct here, £1300 to £1600 ea for Sunday.

Alternatively if you want pit walks, sit down service and international pit straight viewing Bernie's Paddock club can be booked. However it'll likely be a 2 day or 3 day tick at close to £4k ea. Paddock club doesn't however include paddock access, that you basically can not buy.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.thumbup

It's mind-boggling what you have to pay at Silverstone, isn't it?yikes

It's always been a major source of off-pissery for me that, if you're a 'celeb' and therefore presumably rich, & you know zilch about F1, then you get treated to all sorts of freebies and hospitality at the GP, including grid-passes and what-not; whereas if you're one of the impecunious motor-race enthusiast hoi polloi, then you have to pay through the nose for everything.furious

My advice would be to do a GP abroad like Monaco. Stay in Nice, see the sights and then go and watch the GP and have fun, sun and better value for money too. Not as expensive as you might think.

Yes you could experience this in the 1970s and 1980s for nothing and then Mansell mania ruined it all. We used to turn up, get in and get everywhere just like the Silverstone Classic. Take the Mrs to that instead.

Well put Tony. Don't go, waste of money, and always a let down.

Nothing to do with that. Totally controlled by the BCE network. Sponsors' guests get the Paddock Club treatment at any race. I'm not aware of any where the 'general public' get pit lane access...at every event those dreaded gates are setup.

So the only way you'll get pit lane access to any GP is as a guest of a sponsor...and that assumes they get the tour as part of their gig.

+1 3 day weekend trip abroad would work out cheaper and be better for you and the Mrs smile

:agree: we're doing a Monaco GP package next year, private plane with top notch food and drinks, pit lane/swimming pool tickets for around £1200 p/person for the day.

Monza's good.

Plenty of locals carry tents in during practice when entrance is free, then camp in the woods until race day smile though without stand access, viewing the race is harder as the trackside is overgrown in a lot of places.
