Well I like to be optimistic so to read this is wonderful news. I hope he is making a good recovery. In much the way that the press has respected the family (on the most part) it is nice the family are also respecting the fans and well-wishers by releasing these statements.

Well, it's good news for Michael and his family that he can be in his home environment surrounded by family. I'm sure he'll have a dedicated care team on hand and all the facilities he needs to recover or find some solace.

It sounds promising to me.

Fingers crossed he recovers well.

Sadly the man we knew probably died a long time ago.

Sad end.

I honestly doubt we'll see anything of him again.

You are correct.

Few years ago I had someone very close to me have a similar injury.

Docs said he is going to die, intensive care for 3/4 months, them specialist hospitals for a few years.
He is still alive but not the same person that he was.

Good luck to him.

I imagine his home facilities will match the best specialist hospital by now and staff.

He may not be fighting fit to do what he's done in the past, but I hope for his family and him that he can live a normal life with mobility and his mind all able.

Keep fighting.

That's in quite poor taste

I'm not a fan, sports wise but as a human being I wish him a full recovery though sadly this may never be the case.

Keep fighting Michael.....

How much of a recovery did your friend make? I appreciate MS will never make a full recovery, but I hope he recovers enough to have some quality of life.

Never liked him or the do anything to win approach- that Benetton for instance but terrible and from the reports of the damage/extent and repeat surgery due to bleed/swelling I doubt he'll leave that house. We all expect him to walk out one day.
I suspect this is the most likely, he will be in a largely vegetative state, which is incredibly sad.

Wishful thinking by Jean Todt I think.
