I'm looking at buying myself some team clothing.

Does anyone have any and is it good quality stuff? It's bloody expensive and I don't want to pay a fortune for it to only last a few months.

I've not bought any team shirts in a long time now but think I'll buy a Williams Martini Racing one shortly. The pricing is shocking though.

My mrs got herself a mclaren fleece in 2012 which she wears pretty much most days when she walks the dogs, it still washes up fine and nothing's broken.

My OH bought me a Williams shirt at the British GP last weekend, seemed good when I tried it on. Unfortunately she has hidden it until my actual birthday. Things to note- it cost £60, that's nuts I would never have bought it for myself. Its 100% polyester, that might put you off.

It was also quite difficult to track down, we bought it around midday Friday after asking one of the race helpers where we could find Williams merchandise. It turned out that only one of the stalls had any at all and they were subsequently all gone by Saturday (only 1 Medium, a few XLs and a couple of smalls when we bought).

I have an Aston Martin racing polo which I bought at the 6 Hours of Silverstone a few years ago which although the same price was far higher quality.

Thanks guys.

I actually went the GP at the weekend at got the McClaren t-shirt, which I really like. I'm looking at buying the waterproof jacket as I really like that too, but was just wondering about the 'longevity' of them.

The pricing is shocking, the cheapest I've found the waterproof online is £127. The t-shirt was £40.

Best team purchase was a '99 Jordan team coat of the bay years back, decent Puma jackect that is still like new. They were about 100quid at the time & got it nos for 40. Don't buy current team stuff as it is silly money, try to get the last year bargain, although reallt like this years Williams stuff.

If you bought one with McClaren on it, and you pay those prices, you've been ROBBED!

Tbh, its massively overpriced for what it is. Quality isnt bad, so it should last but the cost and the fit is a bit odd.

Wait until the end of the season and you will get much better value. . .McLaren stuff is generally of very good quality, I have there trainers and several other bits, all bought when the racing has stopped and someone is counting the pile of left over gear......

Half way through the season and Williams still have nothing out there readily available. I assume demand would be 'rather large', surely it doesn't take that long to get merchandise out there?

I spoke to a guy at Goodwood FoS about this - he gave a resigned shrug, and said no-one knew what was going on with it. He hoped there would be some stuff ready for the BGP, but he wasn't that optimistic.

We were talking to the bloke that owned the 3 stalls that had Williams Martini clothing at the GP last weekend. He told us the plan was to launch gear at Silverstone and he had a deal with Williams to sell the kit, however the (interestingly American) manufacture screwed up and couldn't complete the order before the event. Anything he had over the weekend arrived on the Thursday morning. The large polos had sold out within hours! Availability of them seems to be good now. Shame they missed Silverstone as I suspect its the biggest market for Williams merch.

I don't normally have a problem with the price of the shirt ect, after all how much is the average football shirt these days? However the amount of people with those white Hamilton flat peaked caps boogled my mind at £50 a pop!

The team kit is expensive, but to be fair everything I have ever bought I still have, it's still in good nick (even if it doesn't fit me!) and feels quality.

To be honest, a lot of it (massive Williams fan here - in more ways than one!) I get from ebay or 3rd party sales years after they've changed the sponsors or drivers. My most recent purchase was an AT&T Williams shirt about a year ago.

Having said that, the Martini stuff is lovely. Might treat myself to a polo.

I managed a real bargain 2 years ago - a Ferrari T-Shirt for the equivalent of £1.50.

Genuine merchandise. My Italian mate loved it even though I told him how much I paid for it and that was about all his precious team were worth these days (based on their performance).

I ws at Williams in Grove on Sunday and they didn't even have an Martini Racing 2014 merchandise. I'd seen the shirt was polyester so wanted to have a feel of it before buying. Can't decide in size either. If medium is actually the size it says (which I can't remember now) then it will be fine. Sadly it would be a first!

2013 McLaren merchandise is very cheap on their official store here http://www.mclarenstore.com/en/uk/sale/icat/sale?s...

I've got some McLaren tshirts and polos, a Lotus polo and raincoat, Ferrari polo and shirt and a Red Bull shirt. Not concerned about the quality of any of them, they're all well made. The shirts are my favourites and can be bought pretty cheap if you don't mind having last year's.

eBay is worth a look for getting older and cheaper but still packaged with tags gear as well.
