Charlie Whiting, friend of Bernie (the man who is set to lose the most from falling viewing figures due to Mercedes domination) has now decided, after 2years of running, Front Rear Interconnected Suspension is now against the rules.
Talk about rolling the dice.

They've certainly taken their time, with Renault having run it since 2008!
It's ridiculous to ban such concepts during a season, especially when many of this year's cars will likely have been built around the system. That said, I doubt that the unanimous vote needed to postpone the ban will be achieved if any teams currently aren't running it.
Was the gap between Hamilton and the rest of the field so much that the FIA thought they should step in and level the playing field with immediate effect?

It would appear to be as you say, but if the Mercedes (amongst others) is designed around its suspension system, how can it be at all reasonable to ban it with a weeks notice? It's ridiculous to ban such concepts during a season, especially when many of this year's cars will likely have been built around the system. I wonder if Ferrari and RBR use FRICS. If not, then perhaps look to one of them for feeding the bullets to the FIA fkwits.

Think you've hit the nail on the head.I wonder if Ferrari and RBR use FRICS. If not, then perhaps look to one of them for feeding the bullets to the FIA fkwits.
it's crap like this that will kill F1.
the use of the very same st regulation on movable aero is a joke, that rule was not written for this, it was written to ban DRS etc!
whoever is coming up with this st needs to be taken outside and shot.
this is mass-damping all over again, it's worse than childish.

Why?????
Because Merc are running away with the championship. If you look in recent history (last 20 years or so) every time a team gets a jump on the rest with a new innovation it ends up being banned.
Active suspension - Williams
mass damper - Renault
72 degree engine - Renault
EBD - Red Bull
FRIC - Merc
Also stuff like movable barge boards, flexi wings, blown floors etc.
Merc will vote to delay the ban to 2015, everyone else will do the opposite. I do wonder how easy it would be to just remove the system from the car? - I very much doubt that you can just unbolt and replace with a conventional setup, given the cars will probably leave for Germany at the weekend they don't even have time to do that. So, Merc will win, then Red Bull will appeal their car and we're in the court room, again.....
It also forces more costs on the little guys.
FIA need a good kick up the ass for implying that the systems could be banned for a race in 10 days time after the systems being in use for years, its just stupid. If you want to ban for next year, fine or even for the second half of the season but not with literally days to go.
If I was being a bit paranoid I'd say Horner has been whingeing to someone again.
Clearly its something merc have brought into and is giving them some of their advantage.
I would imagine all the top teams run some form of this system, for Merc it might be a case of running an older version on the car whiting is happy with, but also doesnt work as well.
Against its F1 basically making it up as it goes along to try and level the playing field.
sensible thing is ban it from 2015 onwards

I'll give you the bullet if you do the shooting....
I heard in some of the commentary that the other teams can't copy it at the moment as teams can't change the suspension mountings during the season, so how can they change it now this rule is brought in?
And I hate that they keep using this 'movable aerodynamics' rule for anything the FIA don't like.

Mercedes would still have the best car if FRICS was banned. Who even knows if the Mercedes has the best FRIC system? It was pretty clear that Red Bull were years ahead with their EBD a couple of years ago, but FRIC has been around for a few years now and most teams have been using it for a while.
