Going to Silverstone for the 1st time
Discussion
Just got some amazing news - I've been invited to Silverstone next month as a part of a corporate day out. As it's a big bank doing the inviting, they have gone all in and included things like pit passes. Cannot wait!
I've never been to Silverstone, or any track on F1 day before. What's it like? Any pointers on things to do or avoid will be most appreciated.
Not sure on how to get there. Will driving and parking be a pig?

It may include transport of some sort, either car or helicopter? Your itineray could also be pretty well predetermined.
I went corp a few years ago, unfortunately the cloud cover meant no heli transfer, but it was a fun day, met and got a pic with Murray in the paddock club, I was with Renault so programme signed by Heikki. Look out for the stars with a pen/camera handy and make sure you leave your particular hospitality area if possible to walk around paddock club. With the pit passes we attempted to get on the TV, we found them but couldn't get in shot...a bit of fun. Enjoy it!
Boxed ticked I'm glad I experienced it, I've gone the camping route ever since. My friend and I being the only ones to leave our lunch to go to our seats at race start was all a bit weird to me, the free flowing champers notwithstanding!

Be very careful of timings.
They have been known to still be serving up desert when the cars are on the grid.
You aren't there for the food.
If your bank sponsors a team - then you may get onto the pit lane in front of the garages to look at the cars.
You may get a guest speaker. I've had Martin Brundle in the past. He was an enjoyable speaker.
Pray for sunshine and enjoy it.

Bear in mind that whilst the corporate environment guarantees you some great food and drink, it still cannot guarantee the weather so take a few bits and bobs in a bag as if you were planning the trip yourself - pacamac, gloves, suncream, small binoculars, etc. You don't have to use them but you will be popular if you have something someone needs! Silverstone can be a chilly place in the wind should the weather not be kind.
Stowe seems to often be the corporate grandstand of choice these days, but wherever you are you'll have a great time. Enjoy it!

I went for the first time last year and had a great weekend. The weather was perfect, and the race was an incident-packed thriller. I was one of the great unwashed rather than the corporate prawn sandwich brigade, but I enjoyed it anyway.
Don't bother with earplugs, you won't be needing them this year!
Have a great time
