Yes, not premeditated, but locked up on what might have been the pole lap anyway, binned it down the escape road to bring out the yellows.
Managed 70 odd laps the next day, under extreme pressure without a problem.
I think pole was his anyway and tainted the result unnecesserily.

Still can't be 100% about the initial lock up but based on the following I'm leaning more towards it being intentional:
1. He had driven that track, in that car, for at least a couple of hours in free practice - this included several flying laps - without any issues.
2. He drove faultlessly on race day, sometimes under a lot of pressure from Hamilton.
3. Nico is far from being a second rate driver, yet he hit the brakes 3 car lengths further down the road than was optimal for that corner (for a quali lap). I'm all for late braking to make up some time, but you can't make any time up by going even slightly deep into that corner at the expense of late braking.
Notwithstanding this, I'm in total agreement with many that reversing back to the track edge was cynical at best knowing where Hamilton was. But what about the rest of the field? This is not just about Hamilton when so many others deserved a full Q3 session given the importance of grid position in Monaco.

The whole formula is about using the rules to your advantage, they do it all the time with the cars.
I do not think it was intentional, I do not think he wants to win like that.
I think Lewis would have come across better if he had manned-up and showed that it did not affect him (on the surface at least), not shaking the winners hand is bad form.

What's interesting and what people seem to be forgetting is that, IF it was a genuine cock up, then that's twice in four races that he's buckles and made a large mistake on his final quali lap.
IF it was accidental Lewis should take note.
If I were Lewis, I'd turn this round and mention this in the media; "Well Nico obviously can't handle the pressure of me being behind him and chasing down his lap times. That's twice he's buckled and made pretty massive mistake under my pressure in quali. I don't have any pressure. Yada yada yada"
