Did Maldonado's engineers sabotage his car at Monaco?

Given Maldonado arrived in Monaco with a plant pot on his foot (see Source), and that within the limited run-off he was basically going to, at the very least, smash his car to small bits - Did his engineers just unplug the fuel pump to save them all the effort and work of fixing up the car yet again?

It was the first thing that went through my mind when it happened. Perhaps they didn't want the hassle of having to rebuild it again?

I wouldnt say they sabotaged the car..... Just ensured it stayed in one piece....
