Sky and Virgin Media have agreed a 5 year deal to bring the remaining Sky Sports HD channels (Sky Sports 3 HD, Sky Sports 4 HD and Sky Sports F1 HD) to Virgin Media and the Virgin TV Anywhere app.

The only fly in the ointment is that you must have both the Sky Sports pack (£27.25) and the Sky Premium HD pack (£7) in order to watch in glorious High Definition.

The article doesn't say when it's coming, but I would have thought it would be in place for Monaco in two weeks time.

It's good that we have another option if we want to see all the races, but it's still packaged in with the other sports channels. I gather that some people have been losing Sky F1 as part of the HD pack when any package changes have been made so it might be a bit of a negotiating tool, especially as Money Saving Expert users indicate that Sky and Virgin are some of the easiest to get discounts from.

So it is going to cost me £34 a month to watch around 1 race a month; no thanks.

If Sky/Virgin did a atand alone £10 pm deal for F1 then I would gladly stump that up; I could possibly push to £15 a month however F1 is the only sport I have any interest in; I'm not paying for football when I have absolutely zero interest in it.

When I was on VM, I managed to get the customer retention person to add Sky Sports for £10 a month just because i wanted the F1 channel. Ok so it wasn't HD, but it was a reasonable price.

My contract with Sky is up this month and would move back to VM if i could get the same deal. will be ringing them both up later in the week for a chat.

Same here. They are shooting themselves in the foot by trying to make people pay up for all of it. I have zero interest in loads of channels of football, golf and whatever other stuff they have. I might pay for the F1 channel by itself, but I don;t think I'd pay £10 a month for it since I can get half the races for nothing on the BBC with little difference in coverage. In fact, at the moment I can watch all the races via other means so they really aren't giving much incentive.

Just when i was thinking of scrapping off my VM package and keeping just the broadband. I'll retain the package if they include Sky Sports F1 HD for free with the HD channels, which i already have. But i will not sub to the rest of the Sports channels just to get the F1.

Sorry to disappoint, but you will require the full Sky Sports pack in order to get F1. Sky do not sell it to VM as a separate channel. It's all or nothing, sadly, otherwise I'd be back with VM for their TV service like a shot.
