I bet a few lawyers are off to Mercedes-Benz World to see what's on offer.

One wonders at the motivation. Given the trial I would have thought that any allegations would be a bit risky, and without revelations, what's the point?

I'm not sure that is an accurate summary of what has actually happened. I think the present case might shed some light onto the exact situation with Bambino. Or is that Bernino?

But to get that he first had to sign over his multi-billion dollar holdings to a trust fund in her name before the divorce. It's all just an elaborate tax dodge.

He.....sorry, she has exploited a loophole. Bernie has avoided nothing and as for 'deals' - HMRC does this on a daily basis. . . .

Surely it's a non-story?

The BBC article states that what Bernie did was "legally watertight provided Mr Ecclestone did not set up, or control, the trust."

Yes, the amount of money "lost" is a large amount, but avoiding a tax bill and not paying a tax bill are very different things.

Perhaps a neat spin story by "someone's" PR company to take the limelight off the much more real, and more damaging, trial in Germany ahead of the F1 circus' return to Europe...?

Well that Panorama 'investigation' lost any credibility the moment it sought the opinion of E. Irvine esq.

I thought the reason for going with a not so much has been as a never was, was explained. No one was willing to talk.

I thought the programme made its case: does Ecclestone control Bambino and the other off-shore trusts? That's the question. Given the sum coming from his ex on a yearly basis there is a circumstance that suggests he might. Other facts were brought up as well.

But there was nothing really new. These allegations have been made before and him now being a kept man is just a bit more.

What a great shame he has not started something along the lines of a acadamy to help out some of the youngsters in motor sport in this country!

What a great excuse for the tv crew to have a week in the sun.. drinking into the small hours with Eddie.

Fantastic.

Program was rubbish.

We all know bernie is a crook .. always was, always will be but on the plus side - he has made F1 what it is.. and it has been pretty good.

I was expecting some hard hitting journalism, but this was nothing but a toothless dog failing to catch a tennis ball. None of the questions were answered, nothing new was reported and the only person willing to go on record was Eddie Irvine, who, let's face it, hasn't been close to F1 for quite some time and never really cared what happened as long as his pockets were full of cash.

Yes, the questions is still whether Bernie has some control over Bambino, but that's something that the UK taxman is clearly unable to prove or they would have gone after Bernie for a lot more than £10m. I'm sure they are able to investigate more thoroughly than Panorama (at least, I would hope so!). What are the chances that having a Panorama reporter shouting at him outside a German court is going to end up with Bernie falling to his knees and confessing that he controls the trustees at Bambino? Absolutely none. Even a moron wouldn't be that stupid and Bernie may be many things, but a moron is not one of them.

It was a jolly round Europe and a complete waste of 30 minutes of air time. They should have just said "We think Bernie still controls the family trust, but we can't prove it. Now, for the weather."

Why should anybody do anything for their country of birth and the country that educated them and the country that provided him with the entrepreneurial freedom to become rich?

It's so good to see how much sympathy there is for someone who by most accounts, is a liar, totally untrustworthy and is avoiding (at best) paying billions in tax.

Makes a change from the envious do gooders, doesn't it?
