Not having Sky I try to avoid the news until I can see the highlights later.

So the news comes on in the background and the announcer says 'If you don't want to know the results look away now'. Excellent I think; I can carry on and just not look at the screen. And then a second later she reads out the winner. banghead

After a monopoly, the bosses decided to half-cover the biggest televised sport in the world. That tells you everything you need to know about the BBC...

I wouldn't bother watching the highlights, it was awful dull.

have to say i watched the F1 for the first time on sky this weekend via go-TV

And have to say i really enjoyed it, well worth the £20.

There was something about the sky broadcast that was just so much better, and it wasn't just the fantastic racing.

If only it was available in HD.

But i think BBC have just lost a customer to sky.

That's the beauty of them giving it to Sky; you still have to pay the BBC to watch it and Sky pay the BBC too. Nice work if you can get it.

Experience has told me to ensure no TV or Radio news is in earshot and to avoid and news websites, twitter, facebook etc until the highlights have been watched.

It was a great race!

They do exactly the same with football results (not that it bothers me personally). They should change to 'If you don't want to know the result, make like Usain Bolt on speed & Red Bull, or close your eyes & stick your fingers in your ears sharpish'.
Typical Beeb levels of thought.

That tt Alan Green interrupted the Liverpool commentary mid-attack to announce Hamilton had won. No mention of the race at all before hand, just blurted it out. The tt.

I had a similar experience with last week's qualifying.

Admittedly, it was my fault for turning the radio on, but with absolutely no warning, the fking newsreader announces "Lewis Hamilton is on pole position for tomorrow's Malaysian Grand Prix". If she'd maybe mentioned the "qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix" first BEFORE the name of the driver, I could have quickly switched off, but no.

I shouted an expletive at the radio, refrained from popping the faceplate off and launching it out the window, then went home and watched it anyway. s.

WTF?

Since I do not have Sky I manage to find other things to do between the live event and the BBC highlights. Seriously, it's not difficult to tear yourself away from the TV, radio or internet.

I've even managed to go several days without hearing a GP result before getting to see it on iPlayer. It's not too difficult.

I'm not going to live in a cave just to keep the results secret. I like to listen to the news.

Yesterday I "watched" the race live via the web updates on Eurosport/BBC sport Apps. I recorded the highlights at 10 but just can't be bothered to watch them. This happens every time the beeb do the highlights. I may have to cave in and get Sky. Can you get just the F1 channel via Virgin or do you have to get all the sports?

You have to get the full Sky Sports pack on Virgin media if you want to get the F1 channel.

Well BBC news is not worth watching anyways....

But yes, avoid TV, Facebook, Radio etc if you've recorded the race.

Impossible if you're doing shift work eg. being stuck inside a large warehouse.

So you thought they would do a piece on it with no sound? smile
