Has anyone else noticed the poor picture quality of the on board cameras on the F1 cars this year??? It's almost grainy to watch, best way to describe it is like it has a faint antique look about it (like you can get in photo editing software). The cams seemed to have a better picture last season.

Prob just me being anal, but it's a bug in my OCD-ness lol

Cant say I have noticed.

Could this be due to the frequency the sensors are sending information at? Things like the fuel flow etc? I did hear they had to change the frequency of some sensor because it was interfering with the radio or something.

I think they've never been particularly good. Indy cars have long had superior in-car cameras with a far wider field of view and sharper image.

We've had new HD on board cameras in the BTCC. Really impressive too

I think the cameras are a few years old now. They have to go through some fairly intense environmental testing.

It'd be great if we could have these sorts of on boards for each car

Hopefully not, the live output from a go pro is woeful, and would be unusable in a broadcast environment.

I believe Formula One themselves have a manufacturing facility at Biggin Hill for a lot of their electronics.
