I can't find anything on this, so chances are I'm imagining it, but didn't the FIA introduce the higher noses a while ago because they were concerned about cars wedging underneath other cars? And now the nose has been lowered again because of side impact concerns? I'm almost certain I remember this happening, but I can't find any evidence online that corroborates that memory.

The high noses were for aero reasons. The low noses were to avoid nasty side impacts. Potentially created submarining issues so are being reviewed for 2015 AFAIK

Ok, thanks. Perhaps I just remember concerns before, rather than rules.
