...as in the docu-film.

Very well done IMO. On par and maybe even better than Senna, though not really a good comparison.

I bought it the other day but haven't watching it yet.

I don't imagine it'll make particularly easy viewing..? It's had good reviews though and I understand it's been done properly and deals with the more gory aspects pretty carefully and sensitively.

Is that what you found?

I got mine from Asda. It's online and in store. I couldn't see it anywhere else.

Got my copy from HMV.

Yes, the footage was enough to shock but never stepped over the mark and really drove home just how brutally dangerous F1 once was....and how safe it is now. Kubica's Canada crash never fails to amaze me at how he escaped intact.

Lots of stuff I'd not seen before. too.

What was most shocking was just how credible, sensible and fair Max Mosley came across. I even thought how good things would be if he was back in charge. It's amazing what retirement does to politicians!

I also still find myself aghast at the sheer violence & destruction of Kubicas crash and of course his survival of it.

What span of F1 history does the film cover?

i always found max mostly convincing even when i totally disagreed with him, he somehow had a way of making you think what he was saying was totally reasonable.

Pretty much everything since 1950 but main focus on the late 60's and 70's. First 10 mins is Brundle's Melbourne little mishap....another "how did he get out of that" moments!!

Doesn't have Tom Pryce's godawful accident in does it? I would suspect in this day and age it doesn't but I frankly try to steer clear of that one.

As do I. I have managed to avoid ever seeing that and I'd like to keep it that way.

The Tom Pryce accident is mentioned but not shown.

The film's focus is on the dangers of the sport but not exclusively.

Watched it this evening off of the back of this thread - I'd somehow not heard about it!

Very interesting watch, would definitely recommend it. Well put together, with footage that you don't normally see and some interesting interviews.

I saw it on a plane the other day. I enjoyed the first half of it and there were some good quotes from characters that don't usually do interviews but the 2nd half just fell into the old Lauda/Hunt love-in for too long. but on the whole I enjoyed it.

Yes, it was buried away on the menu on a BA flight I took to Boston in early Jan. I hadn't even realised I was getting a seriously advanced preview of it! It didn't cover any new ground for me.
