with all of the new technologies on F1 cars being the only vaguely exciting thing about this season, it would seem sensible to me that FOM or whoever looks after TV would be keen on some information displays for on-board shots like we used to have

gear, throttle position, speed, revs, hybrid usage (power split from engine and batteries, or absorb split between brakes and KERS etc). it should be available from teh standard ECU.

Is it that the teams don't want this information made public - should they have such a say?
Or is F1 dumbing down, and this wouldn't appeal to the casual fan they are so keenly trying to attract.

Sure it will be available soon but while teams are finding their feet the information would be too valuable to competitors.

I hope we have it by the early Summer.

I recently read this article:
https://f1broadcasting.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/ne...

I thought I remembered seeing some new graphics over the weekend, I've just done a quick search and found a video, here's a snapshot:

The outer-circle blue graphic looks to represent the ERS as it swings from side-to-side under throttle/brake.

Skip to 45secs and you can see it in action:

EDIT:
Waaaaay too much effort put into this reply!
