Does anyone know if there's going to be a live timing app for IOS or Android released this year? I bought the Soft Pauer one for the iPad last season and although expensive, it was really useful and gave access to data that wasn't available on the regular website timing page. I'm sure I bought it last year just after Christmas as it was on offer but looking now there's still no sign of an app, either in itunes or any mention of it on the Formula1.com website.

I've bought it the last few years but much of the information is now available online, especially on apps like the sky F1 companion thing. This was the first year I was considering not getting it.

I agree though, it is great and apparently hasn't been available yet.

It's now available for iOS. No news as to an Android version yet:

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/official-f1-app/id...

The in-app premium subscription is £7.49 for the whole season. Much cheaper than the £19.99 for last year!

Excellent, I'll download that on the iPad later. Always was a bit painful blowing £20+on an app but it was useful.

Android version now released:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com....

As per the iOS version, the free app gives you very basic information, and the in-app purchase of the season pass (£9.99) gives you full access.

I downloaded this for the iPad. Paid my (£7.49?)

When I tried to restore my purchase to the iPhone, it appeared to be trying to charge me again.

LOL, I think the amount they had to pay to Bernie for the access to the data has meant that maybe that's the only way they'll make a profit!!

The app works well on my Samsung tablet but my wife is complaining that the F1.com live timing on her laptop is no longer showing sector times just silly coloured dots.

Undoubtedly this has been done to try to force people to use their smart phones or tablets and so cough up the £7 or so to get the full Android or iPhone app. Not very fan friendly methinks especially as not everyone has a tablet or smart phone. That apart, watching the app on a smart phone would be awful as their screens are too small so a tablet is better although still far from perfect.

The app is useless - keeps jumping from lap to lap - it's either a lap behind or a lap a head
And you can't sync it to your TV feed
very short sighted that they're not given us the data feed for free. The F1 website isn't working at all for timing - server error

Wasn't it supposed to "push data" to your iPhone? Never did to mine, and never got it to run during the race either frown
So far it has been a rip off
