I am sorry if this has already been covered, but listening to Sky Sports News this morning, they were covering the Bahrain testing.
The noise of the new engines was terrible and so quiet, it felt like the spirit of F1 had somehow been taken away!
I believe a big part of motorsport is noise, especially as a spectator as it helps to add so much aural drama to the action.
This is just my opinion of course, and I understand that there is possibly some people that like the new noise.
Anyone else feel the same?

I dont think they sound too bad, all the vids I have seen so far it sounds as if they are short shifting. I hope they sound a lot louder though, it's my first and probably only time I am going to see an F1 race live this year and dont want my first thought to be "wish I had come last year"
I was bored of the v8's tbh. The exhaust blown diffusers i heard at spa in 2011 were cool but last year at silverstone it got boring real fast. Every single car sounded identical, and tbh, the v8's were just worse versions of the v10's and 12s that preceded them.
The v6's maybe quieter but at least theres turbo whine and wooshing and other weird ERS noises. They sound far more modern than the v8's. Plus im quite looking forward to hearing tyre screeching through corners, something that couldn't be heard over the sound of the torqueless v8s.

One of the main draws of watching F1 live is the noise, the ear splitting scream of engines trying to drag every single drop of power out of the engines.
My best ever memory of an F1 race was at Montreal a couple of years ago - Watching the Renaults braking hard into the hairpin, blown diffusers going crazy sounding like machine guns , and then screaming out of the bend. You couldn't help but be totally engrossed with the awe and spectacle. Looks like those days are dead and buried with the new engine regs.
And don't even get me started on the face of the new eFormula electric cars.......
