Lewis Hamilton...F1 champ again, like ever?
Discussion
...I have this really bad feeling that he will never add another world title to the one he secured with McLaren. I just feel that with Vettel being his junior and having that Schumacher lucky streak (and also being a bloody good driver), his chances are limited. I also cant see Mercedes moving up to Red Bull level for a bit. Plus for me, he still has too many off days and his head isn't always right. He is another flawed genius for want of a better expression. Anyone agree?
Been following testing have you?
Fortunes wax and wain, red bull won't be on top forever, maybe not even this season, depending on the level of miscalculation they have made with their car.
Hamilton stands as good a chance of anyone of grabbing another, maybe a third, though probably no more. He is still only 29 - older than Vettel, but hardly over the hill.

Early days for this year, but the Mercedes engined cars are looking a hell of a lot better than the Renault engined cars, so Mr Vettel's fifth in a row is not guaranteed just yet. He will be settled in at Mercedes this year, as long as he keeps his head straight he's got a good chance.

No I am not following testing at all, this comment is just based on Hamiltons ups and downs in the years since 2008...he is a top talent and I am a big fan, I just seriously wonder if he can grab another titleFortunes wax and wain, red bull won't be on top forever, maybe not even this season, depending on the level of miscalculation they have made with their car.

I'm not a big Hamilton fan, but i realise how good he is. He has been unlucky throughout the course of his career in F1(mostly down to reliability). If he was in the Redbull for the past 4 years with Webber as his team mate, do you think he wouldn't be a multiple world champion?
I don't think so.....the Redbull has been exceptional.

He has the raw speed... the question is does he have the consistency to match the likes of Vettel, Alonso and Raikkonen?
Rosberg has proved to be pretty level with Hamilton too - didn't get blown away the way most people were expecting so I don't think Lewis can expect #1 status to make things easier either.
I'm leaning towards no, he wont win another one... partly because I think Lewis will get bored of F1 before long. Then again if Merc build a dominating car/engine package this year his chances are as good.

The problem is that Lewis is all about all-out speed, and gives his best during races where he is able to push most of the time (USA 2012 as an example, also Hungary 2013), he does less well when he can't lean on the car so much - which is a lot more of the time these days than in the past when refuelling was allowed.
As pointed out he is a driver who loves and prefers going flat out, having to manage fickle tyres and limited fuel just robs us of his actual potential. That's where the elder drivers Fernando/Kimi/Jenson do well in managing these situations. It's just a matter of time before things click into place again.
Lewis needs to work on his race craft, use his engineers better re setup and tactics along with clearing his head of the showbiz stuff. He has speed but that is NOT enough to win world championships now, you need intelligence, make your own luck and dominate the competition along with subdue your team mate. 2014 is going to be tough learning curve for many of the drivers in any car.
