Would be good to see him staying in F1 but time will tell.

To be honest, I think the only real foundation to any rumours are people hoping that if they wish hard enough it will come true.

The foundation seems to be:
1. There's a Ross-shaped hole in the Mclaren management structure.
2. There's a job-shaped hole in the Brawn life structure.

The whole rumour mill is based on 'McLaren don't have a 'insert whatever the role is here that they have created' and then 'Ross Brawn doesn't have a job'.

The rest people have made up - wish is father of the thought, not evidence IMHO.

Yes, but he will report to someone else (as yet unspecified) who will then report to Ron Dennis..

Ah, thanks - bit of a bloated structure? Just the sort of thing RB would have left behind at Mercedes.

Not really, Ross' issue was him adding value and having a clear management structure. This would be clear, who reports to who and what they're in charge of. They'll have to appoint someone...

You hit the nail on the head there I think.

It's beginning to look like the FIA could use him to write some decent rules that can't be fked up and made mockery of by the teams.

There's nothing really wrong with the new rules and it's the job of the teams to find the best advantage in (and around) any rule. Sure some of the cars that have rolled out aren't what they probably expected at the front but I'm actually more interested in the backs of the new cars - there's going to be some fun stuff taking place back there to create an advantage from the single, central exhaust exit. Excluding Ferrari and Merc. most of the noses are trying to keep last years core nose aero. and then something to comply with the rules stuck on the front.

Whilst I agree with you that the interpretations will make for some interesting times ahead, don't forget that In 2008 Brawn warned about the loopholes allowing an extreme interpretation (double diffuser) for 2009 and I think it was Mark Smith and/or James Allison last year who warned that the low nose interpretations for 2014 wouldn't be pretty.

So in other words, whilst I think that RD is playing the long game for Brawn in renaming Neale TP, Brawn would be the best man for the FIA tech role wouldn't he?

When? Wasn't aware of that one.... Neale is MD or something and same level as Eric B.

I think he is acting in the role of TP, I seem to recall that Eric B reports to him until a TP is appointed.

Well certainly means a no for now, but give it 6 months or so and see what happens.
