Cosworth reveal CAD image of F1 engine.

Fair comment.

Just one little twist though - Lotus haven't announced an engine deal yet...

Pretty pictures.

That is all.

They've pulled out of Bloodhound too.

Pulled out in what way? As in BH can no longer use their old F1 engines as a fuel pump or that they can keep using the engines, but support for the engine will be scant/non-existant? So if it goes pop, they may be stuck.

I don't know how last year's engine was financed. Perhaps the 2014 deal involves a totally different commercial structure?

Thinking about it, am I correct in recalling there was some sort of “support” from Renault for a couple of years (which explains how they managed to fund the engine for a few seasons)?
Seems to be a lot of unknowns at Enstone right now.

Thing is, people like HPE have been developing their V6 turbo + KERS + ERS for the last 3 years. And it's taken them that long to get to a running powertrain due to the enormous complexity of the thing (particularly the electric bits and there integration), so even if Cosworth have the bare bones for an engine design, they would be playing a serious game of catch up surely?

Spot on GG (finally sussed out who you are...) . One wonders whether the circumstances have changed for 2014...

Board Room pressure??? French companies' attitude: "why are we not making money from supplying these engines?". Funny if that is their view, Renault advertising on the box for their run-of-the-mill (boring) family cars says "World Champion engines" (or something similar).

We all know about the inline 4 being used for the jag supercar but I Shirley can't be the only one who is surprised that cosworth have a V6 turbo designed & ready to go & have kept it under wraps?

For a start, why on earth the secrecy?

They don't have an engine designed and ready to go. They don't even have a unit that's ran on a dyno. It's a CAD rendering only. More bluff and bluster to try and get a buyer in. Worthing noting this is the company that announced it was seriously in the red in November and had had their overdraft pulled by the bank due to the state of the place, not to mention all the f1 guys being laid off... they really haven't self funded a whole F1 engine dev program frown

I was surprised that Bloodhound won't be using a cosworth engine to act as it's fuel pump? I wonder if the Nammo rocket has a system already tested?

Surely a quick root around in any skip round the back of an f1 team can help with that? Got to be loads of v8's doing nothing now.

So, now that there are 'reports' that Red Bull could buy the Cosworth F1 project, and run it as their own engine in 2015. Depending on how the 2014 Renault engine ends up.

I can't see that happening anytime soon, especially while Infiniti are busy pumping millions of pounds into Red Bull each season.
