Anteater Noses
Discussion
I agree, they really don't look good. And what's with this raising the weight limit for 2015 again?!
I'm thinking Force India have only released that side-on shot because they are also hiding another monstrosity like McLaren's cock nose.
Hopefully they sound alright in reality, might be a bit of consolation.

The teams will always produce something that gives the best performance compared to looks. To increase airflow under the front of the car they will, always try and have as slim a nose as possible while being able to pass the crash tests. Yes regulations could make a difference but they will always do whatever is fastest. At least everyone (so far) seems to have different ideas of what is best.

Then they're pretty shoddy, because the days after implementing the nose ruling half the internet was postulating it.Laughable. Totally & utterly laughable.
With this and the double points nonsense Bernie seems hell bent on destroying F1 before he leaves it. You can't have what are supposed to be the worlds most advanced & sophisticated racing cars looking like they have dildos superglued onto their noses. Other car manufacturers & would be sponsors must be looking on aghast. Would you like your brand associated with a car that looks like it has a post-Viagra schlong tacked on the front?
Pathetic.

Are we as fans really to expect manufacturers to compromise ultimate performance in favour of cosmetics? Get real.
It was slightly tongue in cheek. However it do think it aou time the rule makers had an eye on aesthetics. In the end the visual spectacle is a large part of any sport. This is bks
I love it. 3 new cars, 3 different ideas on the nose. Radical innovation is what F1 is about, even if it is a small detail and it's really brought a smile to my face.
F1 cars have the right to be ugly, because being faster than anything else is the ultimate middle finger to the world.

How, exactly, is Bernie responsible for the noses? As regards these cases being terrible compared with F1 cars of the past, say, I give you:
Pushing the boundaries of the rules and to hell with the looks has long been part of F1.

I can't fathom how having a foot long cock protruding beyond the natural nose of the car doesn't actually increase the risk of protruding (penetrating sounds too weird) another car in a side impact??
To me it looks less like a crash structure and more like a spear to inflict more harm than if it wasn't there in the first place!!!

Agreed. I can't understand why everyone has their pantys in a twist over this.I absolutely hate how most people on PH will dislike a car because it looks bad, but swear that handling is all that matters to them and anyone that buys a car on looks (for example an Audi) is not a petrol head. Then we have threads like this. Sure, they don't look good but that's the way it is. Is the enjoyment of the sport proportional to how the cars look? No.
Why does anyone care how they look? I'm way more interested in the innovation, and so far the 2014 cars we have seen are very interesting.

Well, I care about how they look as when I watch a race I'll be looking at them for two hours! Why does anyone care how they look? I'm way more interested in the innovation, and so far the 2014 cars we have seen are very interesting.
Not all of us watch F1 for the same reasons, I like it for the spectacle it provides. The noise, the look of the car and the skill of the drivers is what matters to me. I tend to only watch the race as I can't stand the endless talking about strategy and tyre choice that comes beforehand. I want to watch the best drivers in the best cars go very fast around the track, and how they look when doing that is a part of it for me. Ugly cars take away from the enjoyment a bit.
That said, to me, how they look is not the most important thing in the world. While I wish they were prettier, I do like that the three cars we have seen so far have different designs and I am looking forward to seeing who got it right. I am an engineering student after all and I do care a lot about the technical side, just not when the race is actually happening if that makes any sense.
