oof. what's with the little appendage sticking out the front?
Poorly worded new bodywork regs. Expect all new cars to have similar, it would be a big surprise if any didn't have the same.Huge pods too, i know cooling demands are alot higher, will be interesting to see who goes conservative and who goes aggressive on cooling.
I wish the first images we are shown weren't computed generated though, i don't know why they can't make the car unvieling some sort of media event. Have a day before the first test as 'unveiling day' all cars next to each other accompanied by thier chief designer. Unveil in reverse championship order with a brief interview. Surely much better than some trotting out computer images and others just rolling it out a trailer onto the track.

That's not pretty at all......
Why have they gone so narrorw? Is it just about maximizing the the amount of wing exposed?
The nose tip is regulated to be that far forward, but it does not have to be full width. Of massive importance to the current f1 grid is the air that goes under the nose (hence why the noses of the last few years have been so raised, pioneered by red bull). So by having the tip of minimal regulated width means more air can flow past it under the front bulkhead/drivers feet area. This air is critical for aero, influencing all sorts of parts of the car including the rear diffuser. Why have they gone so narrorw? Is it just about maximizing the the amount of wing exposed?

It is better than I expected. The Autosport image last week suggested the rules may end up with a separate 'finger' pointing out of the flat nose.

That's pretty much the crux of it, I asked the same question of ScarbsF1 on twitter and he's basically the authority on these things!- Disclaimer- All in my limited aero understanding!**
Oh get over it, it's not that bad, in fact apart from the end of the nose it's a nice looking car.
To the people that want to 'boycott' F1 as the cars aren't 'pretty'- I doubt you're much of a loss to the sport. I for one am glad that the manufacturers design the cars to be the fastest they can be within the regs rather than making performance concessions in favour of cosmetics.
Anyway, it's not a car it's a picture of a car.
