There have been a few doom stories in the past and media hype, but does anyone really think we are going to see multiple teams failing to finish laps in testing let alone races at the start of 2014.

I think it is probably being over done a touch and in reality it will be business as usual.

I see a bit of unreliability but not at the scale predicted.

What harm if 9-12 cars are all that are finishing races, was like that in mid-90s and we still managed to have championships smile

Bound to be some issues in early races but should all settle down before too long.

I'd be very surprised if they don't blow a few engines up in testing as they try and find their limits - testing to destruction style wink

Well, by the opinions on PH, any team that fails to turn up to the first test is doomed. So scratch McLaren, Lotus and Sauber at this stage and I am sure we'll see others fall by the wayside too, even before a wheel turns!

I'm not sure about "blowing up" or failing to finish tests, although that obviously might occur, but i'm pretty sure a lot of powertrains will not be running at full performance or specification during the tests and early races!

(the hrs that are being put in over the "off season" have been even more stupid that usual, with some of the electrical/electromotive peeps working through christmas day........)

If you've been following testing for the last few years there is always at least two red flags in a day for cars stopping out on track. I can't see it being much different this year. You might find more cars going out and doing single lap runs in the first test as they are running in various bits and bobs.
