Lack of unveil news!

Isnt testing supposed to begin in two and a bit weeks and no one has announced unveil dates! Appreciate with rule changes they are all working hard behind the scences but surely they should be creating some hype by now?
You would think so, but most are probably too ashamed of their dildo nose designs.Appreciate that these days they are pretty low key affairs but even so normally by now we have seen at least one car and the others are all announcing when we can see the rest. However Lotus have now said they will skip the first test and unveil before the second at Bahrain!

"We're going to keep our car under wraps a little longer than some other teams," Technical Director Nick Chester said.
"We've decided that attending the Jerez test isn't ideal for our build and development programme. We are likely to unveil the car before attending the Bahrain tests, and in Bahrain we should really be able to put the car through its paces in representative conditions."

McLaren are apparently trying to use the rear suspension as a beam wing http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=&a...
Mercedes unveil is January 28th
Ferrari unveil is supposed to be the 23rd or 25th of January, but they are only just sending the chassis for crash testing and homologation.
Lotus has just passed testing and homologation, and won't be at the Jerez test.
That is from a look around on the f1technical.net forums. Last year, autosport.com had a table of the teams unveil dates on the homepage or F1 page, linking to photos of the unveils when they happened, hopefully they will again this year.

I guess with so many changes for 2014 there's more to lose by wheeling it out in front of a couple of dozen 18 megapixel cameras.
I would guess every team has grasped some shady 'rule interpretation' they hope with let them 'do a Brawn' and are hoping to keep it under their hat.
I would imagine this would be the case. Might as well try and keep your innovations hidden as long as possible, just in case it's something to win you the season.I would guess every team has grasped some shady 'rule interpretation' they hope with let them 'do a Brawn' and are hoping to keep it under their hat.
Gone are the days of Alexandra Palace, MTV Europe and The Spice Girls for a launch in 1997!!!! There isn't the money around today for a start in F1 and secondly the teams are way too concerned about their designs and aero packages to have a huge unveiling with the media present. As always what you see at the first test will not be what lines up on the grid but the teams like to launch their drivers and technical people to the media.

Huh?
The point was that in times of rule stability, many teams launch cars were nearly identical to the end of season car, as they were holding back full aero bits until they hit the track so as to avoid giving other teams insight. It would always be "an interim aero package", sometimes with deliberately misleading parts on it.This year they will at least have to show parts that roughly fit the new rules, but the same games will be played.
