Just saw this on another forum and thought it made interesting reading.

Autosport gave each driver a mark out of 10 for each race, and worked out an average rating over the whole season as below:

Sebastian Vettel (8.6)
Fernando Alonso (8.1)
Nico Hulkenberg (7.7)
Kimi Raikkonen (7.6)
Lewis Hamilton (7.5)
Romain Grosjean (7.3)
Nico Rosberg (7.2)
Mark Webber (7.1)
Jenson Button (7.1)
Paul Di Resta (7)
Jules Bianchi (7)
Valtteri Bottas (6.9)
Daniel Ricciardo (6.8)
Adrian Sutil (6.7)
Sergio Perez (6.6)
Pastor Maldonado (6.4)
Jean-Eric Vergne (6.4)
Guido Van der Garde (6.4)
Felipe Massa (6.3)
Charles Pic (6.3)
Max Chilton (6.1)
Heikki Kovalainen (6)
Esteban Gutierrez (5.9)

Agree with most of this, but I'm not sure that Hulk was better than Kimi and Lewis over the season. I also think Massa should have ranked somewhere near Perez/Maldonado.

What does PH think?

I do not get the amount of praise Hulkenburg gets at all, he's a mid ranking driver in my view. I would have Grosjean and Massa higher, and Lewis and Rosberg a bit lower, I think the Merc was a better race car than they made it look.

He is doing what a "Great" driver does. He is taking a car that is a midfield machine, and he is getting it higher up the grid.....

stupid list IMHO

kind of looses sight of what individuals have done in their respective cars all year.

He did in a few races, but not often enough to be 'great' in my opinion.

How is Chilton third from bottom? All he's done is crawl around at the back all season.

First time a rookie has finished every race in a season. That deserves some recognition.

Is that skill or just not wanting to risk the car. Finishing every race is great but not something to sing about if every time you do it your last.

It didn't harm Marussia this year, did it? They finished 10th..

Finishing is everything in the lower teams, even out of the points.

He also improved greatly during the year, ok he's never going to be a multiple WDC but I seemto remember him getting pretty close to the much hyped Bianchi in a few qualifying sessions ?

Only when Bianchi was having a really bad day.

He only managed to beat him once in Suzuka quali and even if the gaps were close Bianchi would usually romp away in races and usually mixing it with the Caterhams who had the better car in terms of performance.

As for the rankings I get the feeling Hulk has been artificially inflated due to recent races - not that I don't rate the guy - but such a ranking system has its flaws.

Yes but getting "close" to or "almost getting similar wins" etc is still not good.
