They use the safety car in many formulae, and it is essential.
But how many drivers have seen their race ruined by them. Build up a substantial lead, then loose it all to a SC, or even several SC periods.
I would like to see aggregate timing used, so that the gaps between various drivers, prior to a SC period, would be used, as a time calculation, at the end of the race to decide the result. The SC lottery should be stopped.

Disagree its a chance you take when racing. Its made many races exciting. IMHO.

I had a safety car come out this year that cost me a 20second lead. But it made for an incredibly exciting last part of the race. Some of the best racing I had this year. I still won but it made for some great racing for the drivers involved (it's a different experience and brings in some tactics ) and it made for great racing for the spectators. A key part was that the officials deployed the SC correctly and made sure they waved back markers past until they got to me. I also had a red flag race this year, where I found myself in 7th having been "tapped" off - a lap or so later the race was red flagged. On the restart I was able to go from 7th to first in the remaining laps.

So from my view point, it's all part of racing and makes it more interesting for the drivers and fans alike smile
