Not having a SKY Sports package, although getting one free with broadband soon, I can currently only watch on BBC. Obviously I have watched the BBC and ITV through the terestrial channels over the years, from Raymond Baxter, and Murray through to MB, DC et Co.
So who is your favourite, and who is the most competitant ?

I know I'm not answering your question but I watched the Race of Champions the other day, think
it was a replay of last year or something, and those two commentators were without doubt the
worst motorsport commentators I've ever heard.....

Brundle and DC were a good pairing

James Allen deserves more credit than he gets aswell - he should be there on BBC F1 replacing Ben Edwards

I think commentator of the future is Anthondy Davidson. I really enjoy friday practices on sky, him and Crofty having a good chat, often about things not directly related to whats on the screen

DC gets better year on year.
He's the Murray of the future but without the Murrayisms.

agreed - shame it only lasted one season!

MB is fantastic, love his commentary - its great to hear a drivers perspective along with technical info delivered in a quick, punchy and humorous manner smile

I agree, I also liked Jonathan Legard.

I would say the coverage and commentating on the bbc before sky took over is the best I have seen, besides the great race commentary Eddie, DC and Jake made a hilarious trio.

Jonathan Legard, in my humble opinion, was BY FAR THE WORST EVER F1 COMMENTATOR. He had this annoying delivery which sounded like the Queen Mothers funeral, then resorted to shouting....which I hate. He seemed to think he was back on radio, describing what what was happening, when we could see it for ourselves because it was TV.....................Now I will calm down again !!!
I really liked Murray/Brundle DC/Brundle

Brundle & DC were a great pairing - no hyperbole, unnecessary shouting, or pointless time-filling.

The complete opposite of that tt Legard. "Red Bull... on a charge!" "Here comes Hamilton, what can he do?!" "And look! It's Trulli in the lead!" (cos he hasn't fking pitted yet and everyone else has ffs)

At the time i though Walker/|Hunt but on listening to Murry nowdays he's ni on a bad as Leggard, way to many mistakes and waffle IMHO, although that is because Leggard really made me shout at the TV with his constant mistakes, before that i never really got botherd by them, so in short Leggard ruined Walker for me cos now i jump on every mistake frown
I allways liked James Allen but i must say i like the "matey" style of David Croft and obv MB is THE choice no matter who is with him, DC? TBH not listened to him since F1 went to sky, i hope he's got better and is no longer "coming over" the other chap in the comms box laugh (funnyest quote ever ! )

Brundle & DC for me, although DC & Edwards aren't a disaster.

Walker was atrocious IMO.

What really did it for me was Abu Dhabi 2010...

(Paraphrasing)
Legard: "TRULLI'S LOST HIS FRONT WING!!!!!11!!1"
Brundle: "He's lost his rear wing."
Legard: "Front wing, rear wing, what's the difference? A wing's a wing."

You could just sense that Brundle wanted to punch him there and then.

You know, I recently watched the BBC's and thought it was terrible compared to Sky.
I wonder if it's just a case of what you get used to?

DC & Brundle worked well together, they had a 'good mates' chemistry that made for a comfortable working relationship.

DC seems less at ease now, and he's beginning to develop some signature 'DC-isms':

'The track is a living thing'
'On this day in history'
'Slam-dunk'
