1976 was one of the classic years in F1 and is well represented in Rush, but if there was a sequel, what year would you feature?

1994 - Death of Senna, Benetton/Schumy allegedly cheating, Benetton fire, Hill's superb drive at Suzuka and the Adelaide showdown.

2007 - Rookie Lewis vs WDC Alonso, Hungary qualifying, the Spygate scandal, Kimi becomes WDC against expectations.

.
Added bonus there of the villain of the piece (from a British p.o.v anyway) winning. Hollywood would never go for it.

1982 was a traumatic and dramatic season.

Good call. The Sky F1 Legends series on John Watson had quite a bit about 1982 and it was pretty interesting.

Was it 04 Schumacher broke his leg? I can't remember. Anyway, that year - Irvine, the Ferrari number 2 takes the title to the wire as Schumacher comes back and has the chance to help him be champion, and Ferrari instead choose to sacrifice the title with some Hollywood spec sabotage (to be made up during the script writing phase) hehe

2014 may be the year with Ferrari and their two drivers may be quite the battle. Also lets see what happens over at mercedes Benz, the politics there may well kick off soon too and also at McLaren, should Ross Brawn pop up.

As i havent been watching f1 for as long as most of you guys, it would have to be Button winning with Brawn.
Thinking back, it was amazing, as we didn't even know if the team would be saved, then when the car was clearly fantastic, it was a hollywood year.

For Hollywood, you need drama, intense rivalry, sex, death and tragedy. That rules out the vast bulk of modern F1.

1958 was particularly bad regarding death (four drivers killed, I think) AND the championship won by only 1 point.

Can't vouch for the sex. Not sure if it was invented back then.

According to Moss he was at it like a rabbit chasing the girls, you had the "Mon Ami Mate" friendship between Hawthorn and Collins, Fangio's last race and the championship decided at the final race

There was going to be a film just about Collins and Hawthorn - http://www.mike-hawthorn.org.uk/mamfilm.php

Once he started to win, though, the excitement faded. They did at least have the decency to be unable to develop as quickly as their rivals, so JB couldn't cakewalk the second half as much as the first, but I'm not sure the whole year would be a riveting film.

With the odd exception - no to most of those years.

We are talking about Hollywood here - not "F1 geek's favourite year".

Prost v Senna - Senna documentary has its flaws. I would argue the aftermath of the 1989 San Marino GP was just as and perhaps more important than the their infamous crashes because by that year's Monaco GP their relationship had turned irreparable.

The life of Achille Varzi is worthy of film itself. He had raced in the same era as Nuvolari and Rosemeyer, stole th wife of a fellow racer and subsequently turned to a drug addict before making a comeback.

1970 - Jochen Rindt winning the championship posthumously thanks to his teammate and future champ Fittipaldi ensuring no-one else could outscore him

Or 91/92 - in 91 Mansell very nearly won the championship, then did it in 92

I know it's not F1, but imagine an accurate film of Duncan Hamiltons Touch Wood.... That would be a laugh a minute!

I've read on various different movie sites over the last few years that there are scripts for a Mon Ami Mate era film, a film about the pre war Auto Unions, the 1982 season and a Senna life story all doing the rounds. The last one has come close to being greenlit but was dropped after the documentary.

We do have the recently announced Cruise/Le Mans/GT40 movie on the way.

2007 would be good, the new kid on the block, the whole pit stop thing between the mclarens and the final race. also ferrari international assistance stopping lewis from winning the championship that year
