So having been outclassed quite comprehensively by Di Resta, any ideas how Adrian keeps his seat?
Does he have a large backer?

I think he has done ok for a driver that was out of the car for a season. He also doesn't bad mouth his own team like a petulant child, which is also in his favour.

He didn't get his drive because of sponsor money but because he is a F3 champion and runner up to only Hamilton in the F3 Euroseries.

Yeah, but glassing the neck of the head of Renault wasn't exactly mature hehe

Well, true, but he must still be quick as they overlooked that.

Sutil (glassing aside) seems like a good guy - pianist, smooth behind the wheel, fast (remember Monaco against Kimi?)

He was lucky to come back - Bertrand Gachot was not so lucky!

He got his drive because he is swift AND brings money. Let's not insult him by calling him a "pay driver".

Most drivers bring some form of direct or indirect sponsorship to their team based on their sponsor history and brand equity.

Come on, lets be honest here.

He's hopeless at worst, and totally ordinary when he is at his best. There are legions of drivers more deserving of a F1 seat than this beige man.

His Mrs is pretty decent.

But yeah... I'd rather see a Perez/Hulk line up at FI.

Waste of space, average speed and makes plenty of mistakes. Counting Midland(?) he's been with the same team all these years and he's never been so much as rumored to join a bigger team.

Plenty of rumours - there are for every driver. No actual contracts. wink

De Resta won the Euro F3 series beating Vettel in the same year & a Dtm champion, so clearly he is more deserving using that criteria ?

Sutil is a decent average driver. Frankly you can do a lot worse: Gutierrez, Max Chilton, Taki Inoue!

No driver on that grid is a chump. But Sutil had that seat because he is a pay driver. If Rubens returns, I would put him in that same category. Paul Di Resta is not a pay driver and is a better driver than Sutil...so why will he not get a drive? Because FIF1 need 2 pay drivers next year.

Maybe. But Paul is also awful when it comes to team image.
