Looks like he's off to Honda, at least I think that's what the article says, the translation is a little bit off.

ETA: Just dug a little deeper and it might just be a rumour, but rumours quite often become reality in F1, so who knows.

McLaren hints at major technical personnel signing amid F1 struggle
...
"There are some yet unannounced that will be headline grabbing when they are announced, so there are things going on clearly."
...

RB to Mclaren would certainly be headline grabbing smile I like him far better since he's mellowed.

Interesting angle on Pat Fry returning. Certainly is possible given his sideways move at Ferrari.

The only question Brawn dodges now is the Williams rumour; those that know him therefore deduce that this is true and that he has indeed bought Wolff's shares and will join Williams next season. I think he will join as effective COO with FW becoming Chairman and Claire retaining the CEO title. I personally am looking forward to that...

They have it at Autosport:

Lauda wants Brawn to stay at Mercedes F1 team amid speculation
---
However, with McLaren having suggested it was poised to sign some 'headline-grabbing' technical personnel to bolster its efforts, the Honda links inevitably led to speculation that Brawn could be heading to Woking.

...AS journos "stealing" my ideas :P Do you're own damn speculating biggrin

They go on to say "High-level sources at McLaren have dismissed any talk that Brawn is on his way there." If you ring me up right now however, I'll also deny I'm on the PH websaite, and am infact struggling with some work technical problem...

So they called Ron and asked.

Interesting.

I was told by a reliable source that Ross Brawn, Ron Dennis and Lewis Hamilton were seen having Lunch at a well-known pub in Twyford Nr Winchester [ Ross lives nearby I do believe ] earlier this year.

Hmmmm, Ross likes Jenson, Lewis likes all of them, maybe JB with LH back at Mclaren for 2015 with Honda Engines, the Team run by RB, Uncle Ron would surely approve smile

Ross likes Jenson,
Is that true?, I always got the impression that they weren't very close, and Brawn didn't particularly rate him, even when he won the championship, after all he didn't sign him the following year, and I think he tried to stiff Jenson out of a deal they had over Jenson keeping the car if he won the championship.

Where would that leave Whitmarsh if Brawn was to come back?

Just been reading that he's going to Honda. I know they doing the power-packs for McLaren from 2015, but there is a difference.

Presumably Honda will be developing a test mule car and pounding around tracks all next year, virtually non-stop. They're not in F1 in 2014, so aren't bound by testing restrictions.

Then it's quite possible that the 2015 McLaren would be very similar to the 2014 Honda mule.

Just a thought.

Great news if it happens.

Out of character for him, so I don't buy the fact that he had anything direct to do with it. ETA to add, but you are correct...that was still outstanding until VERY recently.

I think that was Nick Fry, CEO who lasted 5mins after the Merc buy out. I was under the impression that RB was impressed with JB. I seem to remember RB being quoted as saying, "JB was the real deal and not to be underestimated", "JB is mentally very strong" and "JB gets soo much speed out of the car whilst taking very little from it".

I suspect it was NIck fry that was also holding out on a 2010 contract with JB, maybe due to Merc pressure to get German drivers in or to make the outfit commercially more attractive to the npotential buyers.

I thought it was JB who decided to leave meaning they had to get old Schumacher out? I think Jenson had seen the situation arrising from the layoffs during 2009 and wanted to get to a team with potential.

Could be great news if Brawn can bring some money and success back to Williams....... would be great to see them competing back at the front of the grid again.

Bad news for Merc and therefore Hamilton/Nico if he leaves though.

What about Brawn taking a role similar to Norbert Haug's Mercedes role before they bought Brawn but for Honda? Employed by Honda but seconded in to McLaren for a year. His current employers might hae something to say about that on two levels mind. That said it is F1 so you never know what could be traded to make that happen!

Something to remember, Brawn became a TP as a necessity of him buying Honda so he could continue racing. Do we know he wants to be TP, or would he rather be a Tech Director. Looking at it in that light, moving to McLaren might suit RB fine.

Would that mean Sam michaels would be out? He seems to have presided over a spectacular year for mclaren!
