Bad British F1 Drivers
Discussion
Have there been any?
Inspired (if that's the right word) by the woes of Grosjean, got me thinking about those from these shores that have proven woefully short of the mark in F1 and to be honest, I'm struggling to think of any.
Sure, there have been a few that haven't exactly been quick (Rupert Keegan?) and others where the hand of opportunity was unduly cruel (Brian Henton? Perry McCarthy?) but none come to mind that one could consider to Lavaggi-esque in the crapability stakes.
...or do we look at our own through rose-tinted specs?
(By the way I don't think Grosjean is 'woefully' short of the mark.....yet!)

Closest I can think of to Grosjean, and it isn't very close, would be Coulthard, as a driver who looks fast enough to win races (Grosjean seems to be keeping Kimi honest speed wise) but in his early seasons had a habit of shooting himself in the goot with silly, unforced errors like spinning out of pole on the warmup, or crashing in the pitlane. He had his fair share of contact too. Norhing like Grosjean's level of stupidity though. I mean that crash with Webber was diabolical.

Couple of races, didn't cut it.
In fact, reading his book, he quite didn't cut it in many forms of motorsport apart from a lucky podium at Le Mans....
Couldn't agree more. Needell's was a pretty crap racing driver and (is) a dinosaur.Couple of races, didn't cut it.

Justin Wilson.
He does quite well in indy cars now, he's won a few times this year.

This. Gifted an F2 title by being followed by the fastest man of the time in the best car the formula had ever seen.
Some crap drives in some crap F1 cars followed, but Uncle Ken stuck by him u ntil Alesi came along and blew him out of the water.
If you're ever in earshot of him, probably best not to mention the Lancia rally car test....
