Ah yes it is as I remembered it. Not on the straight but on T5 corner exit.
Why do you think Hamilton should’ve left a car’s width at T5 exit?
it's Will's pet peeve ...i'd say it's in general, but he only seems to mention it when it involves HamiltonWhy do you think Hamilton should’ve left a car’s width at T5 exit?
Would be a bit more forgiving of it were it a proper corner and a bit tight but no chance of genuinely under steering off over there.
In this case I’d call it corner exit and on the straight given he was squeezed onto the corner exit kerb and then the grass along the straight after the kerb
Nah you don’t have a point. You have plenty of examples of Hamilton pushing people off, particularly vs. Rosberg. This one’s a big nothing burger. As I say I can’t find a clip but my recollection is that Piastri was nowhere near having a significant portion of his car alongside in the corner which is why there was no steward action, no massive blowback on here and no-one remembers it.

Well if you use a grab from after the incident obviously it looks less bad. You think if Lewis had left him the room you suggest he would have just driven 2 wheels off on the wet grass on a straight?

Would have been contact if Oscar had stayed within the white lines.
i just grabbed from what was available on the highlightsWould have been contact if Oscar had stayed within the white lines.
onboard makes it look worse, but i'm not it's quite the same level as doing it in the braking zone ...which is what everyone has/ had issues with- but im sure it is to you

Oscar drove off the pitch to attempt the overtake, which turns from rumble, to tarmac, to grass, and as soon as Lewis sees in his mirror that the car is attempting to come alongside off-track, he moves left to give them space.
Even though the overtake was never on, into a closing space.

Thanks- yeah, that should do it.
I don't know why he went to the outside to be honest. The preceding little run of corners showed he had way more grip at that moment. Think he got excited for a slingshot onto the straight.
(Think it was Lap 20/21 if anyone is searching for it.)

Fantastic! And obviously kudos to the entire team ethos, drivers and senior figures at Mercedes for doing so much to connect with their fans and help to make those fans with challenging lives feel truly special.
It'll be a shame to see Lewis depart Mercedes, his and the Toto's attitude's seem so naturally aligned when it comes to how to live a life, what really matters, how to win with dignity etc.. Both of them benefited from a great deal of time spent with Lauda of course

About as many dry eyes reading that, as there were on Sunday afternoon at Silverstone. Wonderful story, the best bit of which is that these things go on quite a lot behind the scenes, and many similar stories happen but don’t get told so eloquently or find such a wide audience.
Well done to all involved.
