Me too. Folks thinking he's retiring... he wasn't set to retire from RB and he's not exactly old by todays standards. One last hurrah, the one it's long been speculated he wanted: to work with Hamilton, throw in the allure of finishing your career with Ferrari (who can also offer the chance to do a road car).... it seems the 'obvious' move. But I can see why he'd be interested in an AM deal, a team on the up with the newest (best?) tunnel to play with his aero philosophies.....

The share move was almost all to do with the record quarterly results from the road car business, that was announced on the same day.

Newey to Ferrari would be a proper dream team though, with LH there next year. Can Vasseur and Elkann have really pulled it off?

Well it’s pretty clear he can still do the work, and there’s at least four other teams that would be prepared to open the chequebook for one absolutely massive last payday.

Horny must be absolutely stting himself that Newey takes half the design team with him, to wherever he ends up.

This is huge. Newey has a contract with RB that covers more than just RB F1. The RB ownership team now have to be very careful this doesn't have a knock on effect with other key staff.

We'll really see how much they value or are prepared to back Horner now?

As for him going elsewhere, surely it's who has the biggest chequebook and will seriously commit to a whole programme change.

I feel like Horner was holding on because the situation had appeared to stabilise. Now that he's fumbled Newey as well as his PA, he will surely receive even less support.

Not only could this be a significant hit for the 2026 car, but I suspect it probably makes Verstappen leaving at some point in the next few years an order of magnitude more likely as well.

If Newey doesn't retire, I suspect there's going to be a hell of a bidding war for him between Mercedes, Ferrari and Audi.
