Schumacher started it in his early days and I assume it's because the literal translation of certainly in German is something like for sure.

Probably "genau", the Boche say it all the time. Its not an exact translation of for sure, but in the context it's close enough.

Schwarzenegger has always said 'for sure' ever since a camera was thrust into his face from the 70's onwards.

Ok fair enough, I wasn't aware of Swartzeneger or the Scandi' rally drivers using the phrase "for sure", for sure.

Anyway, I've never seen any footage of the likes of Fangio, Moss or Clark saying it nor do I recollect G Hill, Hunt, Lauda or Stewart saying "for sure" so I would say on this occasion that unless you can demonstrate otherwise I stand by my statement.

Would seem to be a a fundamental error by Lotus. I know it is easy to criticise tyre choice after qually, but I'd suggest that this was easy to criticse before qually.
