They're obviously not serious about WCC. Maybe they win it, maybe they don't.. if they don't it'll be Perez's fault for sure. Do they care? Probably not - its about $7m difference in prize fund, Perez reportedly carries sponsorship of $40m. The Red Bull brand doesn't have road cars to sell so WCC value is further reduced for them.

They sell fizzy drinks, the best way to do that is to have Max looking like a God, nothing else matters. The subsequent drinks sales attributable to F1 participation alone dwarf the sort of money we're talking about in F1 championship terms.

Max is no doubt happy to have a team mate he leaves for dirt each weekend. The marketing men won't mind Max being made to look unbelievably good either.

I'm sure there are multiple ways they could eject Perez over the next two years should they wish to. But it's not 'hard to justify' why they've maintained the status quo for now. It's actually very easy to make sense of how it's justified.

People just don't like it because it's got nothing to do with racing and everything to do with marketing - but that's the reality, across much of F1.
Pretty much how I see it, and more succinctly put.

Now, back to the "Perez, The Elephant in the Room??" and poignantly deadslow DumBo show... wink
Top juvenile input from FeelAsia again clap

FeelAsia knows more than Red Bull clap
Thought I would come down to your level for once..., just can't beat you with experience, nor consistency of output!!
Actually you have a track record in juvenile name calling when you disagree with other PH'ers
For once I reluctantly brought it down to your level.

If you can muster the self control, keep your exchanges civil.
Not when I disagree at all. I have occasionally endeavoured to make a light-hearted observation when I find the posts deliberately provocative. I always find those that dish it can't take it though, strangely...

Edited by PhilAsia on Tuesday 11th June 12:03
Lest we forget that one man's provocative is another man's tame .

Is it possible that you sit at the more sensitive side of the spectrum ?
Is it possible for you to ever pass a mirror and take a good, hard look at yourself...? As I said, my initial comment of DumBo was just a play on the thread title with a little light-hearted feather ruffling. Relax. Aum...

Edited by PhilAsia on Wednesday 12th June 00:11
Yes this is feather ruffling central FeelUpAsia smile and far from deadslow.

Now back to Perez and crystal ball.
P2 in the WDC again for '24 ?

Presumably this contract extention with RedBull doesn't exclude the possibility of Perez finding himself in a VCARB?

That doesn't seem to be happening, he appears to be getting worse.

This may get back to haunt me, but can he get any worse than in Canada I wonder?

Okay, so my wife just sent me a link to a gossip column, suggesting that an unnamed F1 driver might be having domestic problems with his wife. There’s only three married F1 drivers of the current 20. Just saying…

Yes, this is my opinion too. He seems to be consistently inconsistent!
How has his performance compared with his previous team mates?

Perez and Bottas are both married. Don't know the other off the top of my head, but I would guess that it's one of the Haas or Alpine drivers.

Bottas got divorced a couple of years ago. He's now seeing an Australian cyclist.

Perez, Hulk and Kev I believe. I either love the gossip columns or googled it out of boredom, take your pick smile

Sergio Perez's Austrian GP 2024:

- His teammate MV collides with Norris, gets a puncture

- Limps slowly back to the pits for a change of tyres, check damage, etc

- Receives a 10-second penalty for the collision

- Still manages to finish 17.4 seconds ahead of Perez

- Perez finishes in P7 when started the race in P8 (Would have been P8 if Norris didn't retire)

Also, he finished the sprint race 17.4 seconds behind MV and classified P8.

How embarrassing must it be for him? laugh

In defence of Perez, he had sidepod damage on lap 1 from contact with Piastri, so the car wasn't 100% . https://www.planetf1.com/news/sergio-perez-big-hol...

Hamilton also had sidepod and floor damage, although I think that was from going off track.

Normal day at the office for Perez. Would like to see if Piastri could master that RB

If Lando and Piastri continue their run of good form (collisions notwithstanding) McL could well take the constructor's championship.

Yep. If Max goes to Mercedes then RB is fooked.
