Crofty saying Charles was a cut above the rest because of his mother being a hairdresser was a bit cringe. Meanwhile Alex Jacques' commentary at the end I saw a clip of was brilliant.

I find that Alex Jaques can get very shouty, which is extremely annoying.

I really liked the job Harry Benjamin did. He is calm and knows his stuff. Avoids screaming.

Indeed. The groomed Craig David look is tragic, but the commentary was refreshingly sane and fair, with some genuine humour.

Despite the fact that every time a car got a little nearer the one in front it was "An overtaking opportunity". Must have been watching a different race to the rest of us!
The race was so boring that there was not even a chance of "the old switcheroo". I quite expected him to say so!

We should run a book on how many times he mentions the wall of champions,

I'd be hammered!

Especially if you add in Martin's buzz words.

I don't find shouty necessarily bad, even making mistakes doesn't bother me, as Murray proved back in the day. It was almost cute.

It's just that they keep shouting all the time, trying to make it as if there's excitement to be had, trying to convince us, when there is nothing really going on.

This is my problem with Croftie, he sounds... manufactured. Feels like there's a corporate line that we need to sell F1 as an exciting product and you have to make it sound exciting, no matter what. Even watching the highlights last night, all 7 minutes of them, made me sick of listening to him...
