I am struggling to get what point you're trying to make here. Are you seriously suggesting Alonso is somehow comparable with Perez?

And where have I 'bashed' Red Bull?
I'm saying if people want to mock Perez, then Mutley should receive the same...but apparently 'winning' qualifying is somehow more important than race results. Someone should tell the team principles.

Perez race results say what.

From the various sector times, it would seem that Norris, Sainz and the two Mercs are fast on the straights and lose time at the twisty bits. Are there any speed trap times published? I'd like to see a comparison between the others in the top 6 and MV.

Perez 1.4% slower than Verstappen.

for comparision
Norris/Piastri 0.5% (Track limits)
Russell/Hamilton 0.3%
Sainz Leclerc 0.3%

Utterly shameful for Perez
I think to be fair to Perez, he didn't have any new tyres for Q3, which accounts for *some* of that.
Only because he had to burn two new sets to get out of Q2!
Ha, well yes, but I was directing my response based on the same Q3 - Perez didn't have comparable tyres, so it's not quite fair to point and laugh at him (although, that's not usually the case these days).
Bernie mentioned it at the start of Q3 that Perez would be significantly slower due to used tyres.

This isn't a defence of Perez by the way. I find his recent performance to be baffling and almost embarrassing. Plus it's frustrating for the fans, as we would love to see someone like Sainz (for example) in the second Red Bull car.

Watched it on ch4 wow those highlights were short.

Boring race but good to see Piastri go for it and well done Magnusson.

What’s going on with Alonso have they removed some of the gears from his gearbox so Lance can finish in front ?!

Thanks. I appreciate that.

Interesting reading. It seems Alonso is well slow everywhere.

It's an improvement on yesterday. He was more than 2% slower n SQ3.

Max's 2nd lap in Q2 was on old tyres, a 1.04.4. 8 tenths quicker than Perez's quickest of the weekend...

Perez just isn't very good when the car doesn't suit. He's a journeyman for midfield teams, or a useful loyal servant when you need someone who won't rock the boat.

Yes, thats telling.
As always, it's always in the details.
Clearly this combo of Max and this car are superbly matched. Perez is no chump, he's had six F1 wins, but its just so strange to see the disparity between the two.

Really wish drs was enabled on 1st lap so the drivers could use it on the 2nd lap rather than wait another lap

It's weird - they normally show them for a sprint race.

Perhaps some gremlins that also effected the start procedure.
I like it without it as can see more of the actual coverage so better viewing . Should put it on the bottom like back in the day

Guess they could put the timings on every 5 mins on for a lap then off

Exactly...Perez isn't a bad driver at all, certainly not top tier of course, but certainly capable. Max is something special though and he's not just making Perez look ordinary, he's making him look utterly useless. As he did with Gasly and Albon.

I would really like to see Max against Lewis, Norris or Leclerc in the same car, but it's a pipe dream unfortunately. Lewis isn't interested in destroying his legacy, Norris and Leclerc frankly can't afford it unless they're absolutely convinced they'll beat Max over a season.

And max/his dad/red bull wouldn’t let anyone who could challenge him into the team

Things have moved on - watch via F1TV with multiviewer biggrin

You can have multiple viewpoints and the timing on a separate screen.

It was an extreme example! But with a couple of screens you can have all views at once smile

Saves waiting for the director to wake up and focus on what's actually happening...
