Just watched it.
Eddie Jordan - what a berk: in referring to the crowd cheering for Grosjean, he twice said 'The Marchionesse' when he meant 'La Marseillaise' (spelling might be up the pole there) - the French National Anthem.
Wasn't the Marchionesse the boat which sank in the Thames some years ago, killing a large number of people?

Webber said he was surprised that he was put on a 3 stop. He reckoned he would have been better on a 2 but conceded that the team has more info and therefore knows better.
Did RB effectively use webber to help fingers win?
Yes! Bring MW in early and RG has to respond as If RG loses track position to MW, it is unlikely he will get it back, this compromised RG's 2nd and 3rd stints. Meanwhile SV gets to run to his strategy in clean air using the fresher tyres (and the faster car) in the final stint to overhaul RG.Did RB effectively use webber to help fingers win?
Clever strategy from RBR.

Seems obvious RBR were sandbagging for most of the race and didn't run away from the start in order to try to avoid the inevitable criticism over alleged technical advantages.
They were holding station because the tyres don't allow them to be up the gearbox of the guy in front or even in the dirty air every lap. It says something when drivers can only realistically challenge position a few times before having to settle back and try and undercut on pit stops. Whatever the FIA say I'd rather see places determined on the track than in pits.
We were hearing radio messages about tyre management about 3 (may have even been 2) laps into the race. Ridiculous.

Good and exciting race. Shame there was only 13 pages despite it being on BBC.
Think the early start has more to do with the page count to be honest. 2011- 52 pages at the chequered flag.
2010- 52 pages at the chequered flag.
2009- 36 pages at the chequered flag.
2008- 25 pages at the chequered flag.
2007- 13 pages at the chequered flag.
2006- 2 pages at the chequered flag.
2005- 2 pages at the chequered flag.

The problem is purely the tyres.
The teams and drivers cannot openingly complain about the tyres and explain it in my blunt terms but it's an absolutely ridiculous
Brundle alluded to it in commentary when he said the drivers absolutely hate the tyres but can't say too much about it.The teams and drivers cannot openingly complain about the tyres and explain it in my blunt terms but it's an absolutely ridiculous
If anyone is likely to speak their mind once their ties with F1 are over its Webber.
Run with full tanks so you can push hard - and you get double hit with extra weight causing wear and you can't push with these tyres for more than a few laps.
Pirelli don't make good race tyres.
I can't remember what UK single seater series was on Avon slicks and used to go out to Europe to do a round with their European equivalents and the Avons were a second clear of the Pirelli European shod cars. Same spec tyres.

Just watching a replay of the start. If it had been Grosjean instead of Seb that gave Lewis a puncture, then Romain would be given a drive through, and everybody would be banging on about his "spatial awareness". There was room for seb to go right. An avoidable accident.
It was Hamilton on the left who moved hard right across the track and Grosjean was on Vettel's right, so spatial awareness or not, where was Vettel supposed to go? IMO it was a racing incident, 3 into 1 doesn't go and I don't think Grosjean would have been blamed if the roles were switched. Grosjean bashing has now ended and people can't stop talking about how he is 'outperforming' Raikkonen.pablo said:
Webber should have stayed out, he was 14 seconds ahead with 14 laps to go. He has no balls. I'm sick of his sad face to the camera after every race, the "poor me beaten again" look as if he has been told to pull over and let Seb through, if he grew a pair he could have won today.
No way, that would never have happened. If Maaark was ahead of Vettel with a few laps left and a 20 second gap to third, his Red Bull would mysteriously become down on power in the closing laps allowing Sebastien to get past easily.. All it would take is a click of the mouse and a change to the engine map, they could blame it on fuel saving.
It will be years before it comes out, but I think it is pretty clear that these two drivers are not competing on anything near equal terms. And Mark is probably gagged by the stick and carrot of a tight contract and a lot of money if he behaves himself.

Except the pits can't control that, pit to car controls are banned. If Maaark was ahead of Vettel with a few laps left and a 20 second gap to third, his Red Bull would mysteriously become down on power in the closing laps allowing Sebastien to get past easily..
