I think he perhaps would consider it, if it were not for one thing. Masi and 2021.
True, but that gets mentioned more here than by Lewis.

Also I think he is pragmatic... if he can't see a potential WDC car at Mercedes in the next 2 years, then what does he do?

Roll the die and go to McLaren in some form of return to his roots? Or Ferrari? Or elsewhere?

The only place Hamilton is going once he walks away from Mercedes is into retirement realistically. The only question is, does that happen at the end of this contract or the next one?

Mercedes need to have a succession plan in place, even behind the scenes some of the senior team members must have had talks with Hamilton as to when he is going to leave.
The rumours are that he has asked for 5 years and been offered a 1+1.

But I stress rumours.

I agree. Lando seems like the obvious candidate to me. He's quick, young, good friends with George and the media and fans love him.
You don't want team mates as friends.

Some brutal travel for the teams

18-20 October - USA (Austin)
25-27 October - Mexico City
1-3 November - Brazil
21-23 November - Las Vegas

A month on the road 4 races back to back, they won't be commuting for those?

Ramadan is predicted to start 10th March, so why does Bahrain need to move to the Saturday?
Wild guess that the teams have a minimum of a week's gap between races in their agreements?

Also Friday and Saturday are the weekend in Bahrain so maybe to attract more locals?

Why would that be? On the face of it it's just another Yank team who feel entitled to be invited to join F1 so they can dip their snouts in the trough. Look at Haas - an utterly pointless addition to the F1 grid, apart from being a regular source of Safety Cars. They swaggered in & rapidly found themselves to be way out of their depth.
"In the team's debut at the opening Australian Grand Prix, Grosjean finished 6th, scoring eight points for the team,"

And since?
Not great, but to say "They swaggered in & rapidly found themselves to be way out of their depth." is disingenuous, they did very well as a new team. It's not like they are 3 sec off the pace.

Mario is one of my heroes, Michael was a total flop in F1 and made the fatal mistake of not basing himself near the team in the UK. He commuted from the USA and didn't last long, replaced early/mid season by Mika, who instantly blew his performance away and rattled Senna.
I seem to remember the commute was Concorde?
He was doing 2 series...

“I was still doing Champ Car, of course, and I won the IROC Championship too. I used to do the red-eye going over and Concorde coming back. I was Concorde’s most frequent traveller, 26 crossings in a year. The ground staff were always ready for me, had my Financial Times and my brioche waiting. Those days, first class really was first class.”

It's hard to see how he didn't succeed in F1 with that level of commitment...
The reference was Mario, not Michael.

Based upon recent excellent performances, I believe/like to think that Albon will be on the move by the end of next year. I don't know if Audi is too far away for him to patiently bide his time, but I can't shake the feeling he'll be a key player in the driver market over the coming 24 months.
Maybe Aston if Stroll goes? Might be a good choice for a 3yr+ view as Fernando must eventually retire.

Interesting. He may need proof that they can maintain development pace, given how they've dropped back since the early races.
As a long term move, with all of the infrastructure Aston have coming on line, I think it would be a relatively safe bet. Aston look quick again today.

I have it on good authority there is (at least) one driver on the grid who doesn't want to be there and only continuing due to his father's insistence.

I wasn't told who that was, it could be Lance, although knowing who told me I had my own suspicions.
It’s not Lance..
I like the confidence, almost sounds like you know who it is wink

Is he still on the grid?
Easy Sharrons other half..
Is that a Merc reference?

Zhou and Bottas retained at Used-to-be-Alfa-Romeo.

I think that this is the current status of confirmed drivers.

Team Driver 1 Driver 2
Red Bull Verstappen Perez
Mercedes Russell Hamilton
Aston Martin Alonso TBA
Ferrari Leclerc Sainz
McLaren Norris Piastri
Alpine Gasly Ocon
Williams Albon TBA
Haas Magnussen Hulkenberg
What was Alfa Romeo Bottas Zhou
What was Alpha Tauri TBA TBA

I can't recall if Aston Martin confirmed Stroll or not, can someone advise?

Have Red Bull still got an option on Albon or have they released him?
The released him from his contract.

Rumor is Ferrari may have a pre-agreement with him, or are about to, to backfill Sainz if he goes to Audi in 2026.

Don't Audi want German drivers though?
Why would they want a German driver? I don't think Audi have a challenge selling Audis in Germany.

Like any team, they will want the fastest, most consistent driver available who can commit for a decent term.

Errm... didn't Mercedes return to F1 with Rosberg and Schumacher?
Yes but I suspect that was more coincidence than anything. Schumacher was a hope that he would be his former best... Also Rosberg is German and Finnish.

Yep, easy decision for them I guess. Straight in and doing exactly what they needed. Good for him. A couple of years of 'settled' with him and Lando hopefully and the team really turning round the abysmal previous performance of the car. Good times!
Good news. McLaren have a super strong line up for at least 2 years.

Honestly don't understand the Yuki/Danny signing. Junior team with 2 drivers who've had more than enough time to shine. Lawson's phone must be ringing off the hook!
But from where? Not many seats available.
