People going on about the tax thing is tragic really, he was born here, grew up here, probably paid more tax here over the years than most. If i was earning the sort of money he was, yes i would take steps to avoid paying huge tax. Plus im sure part of the Monaco thing, is that most of the drivers live there, its a nice place. Plus i bet hes only there a few days a year anyway.

Your looking into this far too much, the tax talk only serves as an avenue for hatred. It wasn't tax it would be clothes, if it wasn't clothes it would be music and so on. It's not even ignorance, it's just poorly disguised jealousy and hatred.

As for the playground sniping and bickering that has occurred throughout this and so many other F1 threads, I can confirm that I am literally in the middle coaching my children on how to resist the temptation to behave like this.

True, but there's an argument that George should beat Lewis this season - he'll get support from the team in a few ways Lewis will be cut off from now.

Well we all know what happens when people assume, no one is ever going to "show Lewis up" as he's a one off, yesterday's race bought back all the joy that F1 has been missing of late, I'm not so much into the Monday morning quarterbacking that many enjoy on here as it sucks the life out of the result with a load of coulda woulda shoulda.

But for what it's worth I think we'll see a different Lewis for the rest of the year now he has slayed his dragon and with 2 wins back to back Mercedes have to be really pleased and more confident, as what happened to Lewis also happened to the team.

Just got back after camping the weekend. Race - good. Entertainment / football - good. Weather - absolutely terrible. I couldn't have been any wetter after watching Stormzy on Friday night if I had jumped in a swimming pool.

Indeed, largely because of the double-stacked pitstop after Lewis had passed him. Both McLaren and Mercedes were much quicker than Max (and everyone else) in both the early dry and wet phases of the race. Nothing to suggest that wouldn't have been the case later on.

It may not have just been "against" GR - but being somewhere and watching history being made is next level, even more so at a home GP. I'm not religious but had the opportunity to go to the Conclave - and took it. There's something special about such things.

My first time at Silverstone for the weekend, having not been really taken an interest in F1 before now, but feck me I'm a convert. Sitting next to a massive fan who explained everything to me, I absolutely loved it. The atmosphere, the fans going wild, absolutely amazing. How have I gone 38 years without getting into this.

Already signed up and waiting for tickets for next year. I'm not even a fan of camping but even that was a laugh with a great atmosphere.

Best spectator sport event I've ever been to. Had great seats in Woodcote opposite The Paddock Club, view up Wellington and National Pits Straights into Copse.

Not really - Verstappen was only marginally slower than the Mclaren up to lap 14-15. The merc was eking out a small advantage but it was never a case of being 'much quicker than the other cars. The Mclaren was definitely much the quickest car in the early wet/dry conditions though.....

I was watching from Luffield, so most overtakes were only seen on screen, but there were massive cheers when *any* overtake happened.

Also huge cheer when the leader came round, regardless of who it was. But the last few laps were very special!

I don't think that the fact it was George that Lewis overtook was the important issue, I think it could have been anyone. The important part was that Lewis overtook to take the lead.

McLaren need more time at the pointy end to get used to making the right decisions when the chips are down.
