DR didn't know what JV said until after quali. Then his response was "Eat st" hehe

https://x.com/ThecasualfanF1/status/17997187397197...
Actually though, Rachel Brooks called him back after that comment to explain further and he actually did admit to being, well a bit st and actually admitted that his attitude to race weekends has been all wrong for some time.

So he really did own up to his short comings, whether or not he can improve on them is another question.

Another disaster from Ricciardo. His 8th place finish from 5th on the grid seems at least somewhat acceptable on paper, but there were long periods where he was circulating around in 10th-12th place with 22 seconds between him and the car ahead before any strategy calls and before serving his incredibly stupid penalty. He was saved by the safety car and drivers ahead of him either retiring (Sainz, Albon) or making very stupid mistakes (Tsunoda).
Daniel deserves some criticism for this year as a whole but this is ridiculous.

George Russell was on pole and finished 3rd. Was it a disaster for him?

In a race as chaotic as yesterday's, it's all about finishing results, not where you are for "long periods"

I think it is fair to say Ric was out of position on the grid, a good effort in quali ,on a track that was improving . 8th was a good result in a tough race ,he didn`t bin it like some .

Indeed, he qualified ahead of his teammate, he finished ahead of his teammate, he didn't spin off like his teammate did, and he scored some points at the end. Yet some people still claim it was a disaster for him.

8th would have been 11th and out of the points if the Ferraris were there and Perez was driving and not the guy who's got him tied up in his motorhome.

You’re right - if those faster cars had finished then DR would have been behind them smile

I had the same thought however he got some points for the team on a difficult day and thats what the team need, still under-performing but got the job done when his faster team mate stuck it in the wall.

if this is the start of a run of consistant 7th to 10th place finishes then fair play. However I suspect this is a one off like Miami sprint.
If it were my team id take Yuki over Daniel every time right now.

Another embarrassing quali for Retardo in 18th place, only ahead of the Williams drivers. Man needs to retire yesterday.

And Tsunoda too, only marginally ahead of him in 17th place?

I don't get all the animosity for DR, sure he is being edged by his team mate but nine other teams also have that situation.

I watched qualifying today and there was a lot of talk about the new RB package not working as expected, seeing that Yuki and DR were pretty even I cant see how it can be logical from this how DR is washed up.He's not a driver that I have ever followed but I just don't get why there is all the criticism. Wish I could pedal half as well.

Don't all the teams have one driver performing better than their team mate by varying margins then?

I guess you’d have to ask them
