Another shocker P12, two laps down on the leader and his team mate managed p8.
They both finished in the same position they started, as did the entire top 10. Entirely unsurprising at Monaco.

Villeneuve is both right and a hypocrite! Danny's F1 drean is effectively over but JV's went on far too long as well.

He can talk with that knowledge and experience then.

Isn't he just saying what most people are thinking? It's only his personality and PR draw that's keeping his seat. Not sure why that can't be freed up for an up and coming driver?

Do people really think that it’s a question of effort?

Clearly these cars are on a bit of a knife edge in terms of set up and qualifying. Finding that set up is key - we’ve seen it with the two Mercedes drivers and the two Red Bull drivers, as an example.

I find it hard to believe that DR goes from nowhere to somewhere just as a result of ‘pulling his socks up’

Given the Perez signing means that Red Bull no longer want Daniel, who also means even his current seat is under threat, is there anywhere open to him, which team would take the risk at this point. Are his F1 days numbered as he just can't seem to get on with these cars.

Daniel Ricciardo's MO for several years now has been flashes of unrepeatable brilliance. Seeing him put in the odd good performance now does nothing to change my mind that he is utterly washed and needs to retire.

Isn’t he rather similar to Perez in that regard? wink

Or rather better than Jacques Villeneuve, who raced in F1 for a further 9 years after winning his championship, without a single win. Pots and kettles I think.

The funny thing about the pot calling the kettle black is that the pot might be a hypocrite but it was right.

As said above Daniel pulls out random 1 off good performances or results Monza 2021 being the one that really gave him a stay of execusion. but it doesnt balance out the rest of the terrible perfromances he has had. Jacques is correct

Another disaster from Ricciardo. His 8th place finish from 5th on the grid seems at least somewhat acceptable on paper, but there were long periods where he was circulating around in 10th-12th place with 22 seconds between him and the car ahead before any strategy calls and before serving his incredibly stupid penalty. He was saved by the safety car and drivers ahead of him either retiring (Sainz, Albon) or making very stupid mistakes (Tsunoda).

I think you’re being unnecessarily harsh, he went down to non-points positions due to Yuki, Ocon and someone else (Stroll?) not pitting under the safety car. Yuki ultimately binned it and Daniel didn’t, bringing home a few points so a solid performance.

Did we'll especially Considering he got a 5 second penalty too .

Let's see, that race was a bit of a mess with even Mag in the running early doors
