Tsunoda seems pretty consistent and seems to be a super nice guy.
He does seem a nice guy. I don't know who could replace Perez without perhaps nipping too closely at Max's heals, and handling the pressure of being in a front running team.

Actually sod the former point. Put Lando in.
I wonder if Lando might have a get-out clause in that McLaren contract. Even if he didn’t think about it himself, his team would likely have put something in there that covers McLaren being off the pace, and Red Bull or Mercedes making the call.

Zak Brown is adamant there is no get out clause in Lando’s contract.

I’d say if Perez doesn’t start stepping up he might get demoted to alpha tauri in place of devries

And Danny ric back in the number 2 seat!
The same DR who was dog sh** for many years who shot himself in the foot repeatedly and ended up without a seat and totally unwanted by anyone? “Last of the late brakers” nonsense, that DR?

Never saw the appeal with him and he’s a risk to any team looking for consistency, focus and loyalty.

They all say that, and while it might technically be true, they can't and won't want to hold someone hostage. If lando (or other) wants to go, he can buy his way out.

Devries was mentioned above - will he even be on the grid next year?!

He can not race, not get paid but also they could prevent him from driving at another team until his contract expires. There may not be an automatic right to buy his way out.

Fair enough beer. I'm in the 'where there's a will there's a way' camp, but as you're saying, sometimes this might be exceedingly difficult smash.

I actually think Perez is perfect for RB. The last few races has taught him he is not going to be able to race Max for the WDC (if he ever thought it) and I reckon that in the next race or two we will see a big improvement again. Unless RB have made some 'Max' changes that means Checko is not at all comfortable with the car.

Possibly but they need him as a rear gunner, not P10.

Rear gunner? Has there been a single overtake on Verstappen at all this year?

No, but I'm thinking of 2024 when I expect more design convergence and therefore closer racing (plus the winner aero penalty making some effect)

I'm not sure if I dare dream that DR could really come back to that seat and be the old DR again. I would love to believe that the way Newey designs a car just happens to pair perfectly with DR and that was why he was keeping Max honest as a driver, but was then useless in each car since...
What about the two years in the Renault where he easily beat both his teammates and even had a few unexpected podiums? Remember the famous tattoo bet with Cyril? He was so useless there that McLaren and Renault fought over his services. Unfortunately McLaren won him and then broke him.

Only is Stroll Sr sells the team.

Remember, Aston Martin don't own the team - it's Larry's toy and he can do what he wants with it.

Lance is going nowhere until his Father deems it necessary.

I actually think that Tsunoda will replace Alonso.

He did a decent job at Renault some of the time. Other sessions he made mistakes and I clearly remember people asking 'whats happened to Daniel' during several races at Renault.

I agree he was far more off the boil by the time he got into the macca.

I think big stroll can afford to let jr race as long as the other driver can keep them on the map.
If it was just a vanity project he would run it on a shoestring and put a rubbish driver in the other car to make jr look good.
Jr has his moments like passing lewis in the other race. So lots of memories for the scrapbook.
F1 is a series of big fights spread over the year. Each one is self contained and can be viewed as a victory against your historic rival.
While Max beat everyone we also had Alonso against the might of mercedes/lewis/Russell and he beat them.
No wonder his team were chanting his name.
All lost on the F1 fanbase who view everything as max/lewis like/dislike.

Not all of us! I'm non partisan these days and just watch every race with an open mind, enjoying the very high quality of the drivers that we have at the moment. No pay drivers (in the traditional sense). Ultra close qualifying results. Enjoying all of it.

You’ve got that the wrong way around, Stroll has the controlling share in AM, the race team he rents the space..
