And don't forget that if there isn't a GP in Monaco, those giant yachts cease to exist until there is one, they certainly don't go somewhere else, do something else... They just leave reality until F1 causes them to return and ruin the ocean wink
They really don’t, they appear, as if by magic on the Tuesday before the race.

I’m not arguing that F1 is a lot less impactful per head than a lot of people would think. By you point about a bike is bks.

I’m off to set fire to a rain forest

They may appear just in time - hardly surprising given the unbelievable cost of entry to the harbour. But they don't pop into existence just for the GP weekend... They're out there, somewhere, fully staffed and engines running. They bigger yachts can burn a tonne of fuel an hour just parked up.

The point about AK and MS are they both hugely successful speed sport stars - alpine skiing. MS is arguably the greatest skier of all time. They’ve just got engaged, AK is recovering from a pretty horrific injury and on top of that they are entirely unassuming and were wandering around the grid without minders. An easy fascinating couple of minutes conversation if a producer had the wit to figure out who they were.
What would they have offered that would've been fascinating for F1 fans exactly?

Monaco 2024 F1 red mist brigade - Perez, K Mag and Ocon… as usual.
Tyre chat solution - run all 3 compounds in a dry race.
Best overtake - Logan as he followed the lapping car passing the car he was chasing 30 seconds previously.
Best bit of the weekend - the Prince crying, spraying Charles, Carlos and Fred with Ferrari fizz knowing that there won’t be any retaliation, then downing a big swig.

Mercedes race debrief from Shovlin:

Interesting discussion about availability of new parts (they only had one wing, and Lewis was happy to give it to George. Previously they’d always waited until they had enough, but they drivers are now happy to alternate the new parts on one car), and the tyre selection for the race (a red flag mid race, is statistically much more likely than a red flag on Lap 1, and starting on the hard leaves more opportunity for a late pit stop under safety car). Oh, and the comedy strategy, not communicating properly to the drivers when they needed to push and when they needed to slow, which gave MV a window to also stop without being undercut.

I love that they’ve actually expanded and got sponsorship for these, in the times where they’re not winning. It was an easy thing to do when a bad weekend was a 1-3 instead of a 1-2, but the continuation of the series is one of the most honest accounts from any team.

I missed it live, and have been busy all week so just finished watching this now.

Rubbish. Not surprised though, and doesn't make me any less likely to watch it next year.

Good on LeClerc.

I'd imagine Alonso (or most) wouldn't be turning down a 2024/25 RedBull.
Any driver good enough is going to turn down RB, simply because they want to win the WDC and not play second fiddle to Max.
Bottas is a decent & willing second fiddle.
Red Bull definitely could've signed a better driver than Perez. They have chosen not to, because they are content to be a one-car team which prioritises the WDC over the WCC
Ditto Mercedes 2017 - 2021.

Mercedes could've signed Ricciardo

I thought you said they could have signed a better driver?!

Surely with the Monaco grand prix not under threat but under pretty heavy critism they could do a bit of forward planning. They are extending into the sea at Ocons crash corner "Portier" with apartments and hotels or whatever but it looks from teh plans to be very pedestrionised.

Surely thay could have incorporated a bit of road but with the sole purpose of being a wee hairpin loop into it and out with a slightly late apex to mean a later turn in point and bigger chance of someone throwing it up the inside?
It wouldnt have been that hard and wiIl Monaco still have the same status if f1 decides to leave in the long run?

I think that whilst F1 is very happy to have Monaco, and Monaco very happy to have F1.. They're not about to rebuild or build new bits with F1 in mind, over and above stuff that makes sense the other 51 weeks of the year.

Also, on the basis the entire thing makes no real sense anymore and is just there for the history, it may as well remain unchanged - or fairly close.

It's only the 0.001% of F1 geek viewers that really care to criticise, everyone else gets excited, even though they don't know why, 'because Monaco'.

Sometime it's best just to let things be smile

Why have you brought that up?

AD21 pops up everywhere, assisted by yourself.

"Max winning is boring" - another good one
hehe

Meanwhile we have a WDC battle incoming.
