Nothing about the letter sent to the entire Paddock from someone claiming to work/worked for Mercedes? Claiming that Lewis is being intentionally sabotaged this year.

Almost certainly a loony member of the public but funny nonetheless.

It would be pretty poor to give any serious discussion to a letter from a random, with who knows what agenda, any airtime - also potentially libelous and at minimum irresponsible journalism.

Lewis is bound to effectively be planned against this season, purely due to that being a side effect of planning towards George having greater success. Lewis would have expected nothing less when he handed in his notice.

He's no longer a Mercedes asset, in sporting terms he's now a Mercedes threat.

Apparently it contained some pretty wild claims, and the team have referred it to the police to investigate the source.

Presumably someone interested in ousting Horny, therefore likely not someone who would give a flying crap about Lewis supposedly being treated unfairly.

It's bound to be some sort of Lewis obsessed desperado that's invented a mountain of libelous BS to dramatise the fact that their hero is unlikey to enjoy much success this season.

I hope the culprit is quietly identified and offered some phsychiatric help as an alternative to a bout of community service - for being a bellend.

Well this session is pretty boring. Think I’ll switch to the cricket and watch the ‘highlights’ later!

Well if it is true it looks like Lewis has nicked George's car for FP2.

I think we can safety rule out "Carlo996" smile

Exactly. Only the naive would expect anything else when handing their notice in at any job, and you don't get to his level by being naive. His exit will have been carefully planned, and being somewhat cut-out would be expected.

Flipside is that he's no hope of a championship this year (which is all he's after now), so may as well take a few relaxing months, grab whatever places he can without the pressure\expectation on him, have some fun and start his new job ready to up his game again. Exactly what most of us would do in the same position.

Edit - If the Merc suddenly transforms into a racewinner, of course he'll be up for a few wins.

I strongly suspect that the truth is that George now enjoys whatever privileges the team can afford for just one driver, including strategy and race planning. That's completely normal.

And probably not quite enough to always offset Lewis's talent, but overall enough to keep George slightly ahead.

I agree with the treatment too. George is to lead the team next season and he's been a significant investment for the team, they should be building him up and giving him the best chance of leading laps and securing podiums.

What's sad is people trying to turn it into some sort of scandal that the departing driver is left a little back footed. As if that's remotely unusual..

Just to check, we have a racing driver expert saying "Ferrari and Mercedes are running low and still nice and stable, PERHAPS that is why they are able to carry the speed". Really? Really really?

I'm not watching in real time, Flavio Briatore basically saying I waited until they were desperate and offered me enough money, it's ok to get caught cheating in F1 now

Damon Hill makes it clear that he doesn't think it's right

Interesting that reports are saying it's been sent to the same list of people that the Horner stuff was sent to...

It’ll be a journalists’ email group mailing list address, which probably got leaked somewhere obscure when the Horner stuff came out.

Something like media_everyone@f1.com (I made that address up) and F1 forwards anything sent there to everyone with a paddock media pass.

There will be loads of such mailing lists maintained by F1, for sending out communications to various entities.

There are some law about perma-banning people though as a restraint of trade, IIRC.

If doesn't smell right though and I'm shocked the Renault board allowed it, unless they weren't told.

The cheating Flavio is back, hmmmm. Ocon could have executive consent (instruction even) for his next crash. Singapore maybe (if Ocon can hold out that long before his next hit)? redcard
