The cars the rest of us will be watching, will do a fraction short of 200 miles in about an hour and a half on Sunday.

That's double the average Tour de France stage length. I often do 50-60 miles on a weekend ride, and at my usual speed 200 miles would take about 14 hours with refreshment stops, if I could even stay on the bike for that long, which I highly doubt. I hope it's a long downhill route with a fair following wind.

Pouring with rain, track very wet. I doubt anyone will be going out quickly when FP1 starts.

They need to try and do something though, there's every chance it'll be the same situation for qualifying tomorrow.

Session will start on time, but with pit lane closed - race control message.

On first glance it doesn't look to bad, but theres some huge puddles around that will need to be removed before anything goes on track. The one on the pit straight looks huge, but they're using a vacuum pump by the look of it.

Entry to Turn 6 has a rather large puddle, with a pump truck trying to hoover up the water.

By the time they've sorted the puddles, what's the betting the rain returns anyway?

Rain 15m away, according to strategist Ruth Buscombe on F1TV commentary.

Looks like the weather window is going to be just a little too short to get the track clear before it starts raining again.

Ha! Jaques Villeneuve is on the team this weekend!
That's the first time he's done this, I think?

Seems like the travellers they got to retarmac the hairpin in 2008 have come back and done the whole circuit and have sealed it all up so the water can't go anywhere.
