Seen the Queen

It is not fair, because the Queen has had her nice cushy job for the past 50 years we are all having a day off, bank holiday, great. Except we have to bear the costs of an extra day off. I'm sure the Queen or King Blair will be sending me a cheque in the post, or maybe they'll just let us off some tax or something.
Grrrr

Not sure of your meaning here, the Queen does not get any days off at all, in 50 years. Why do we have to bear the 'cost' of a public holiday?
I think what he's getting at is those of us who are self employed get to have a day off work whether we want one or not and we don't get any holiday pay that doesn't come out of our own pockets...
What's worse is that (i) every bugger is off-work and will be on the roads (ii) most shops will be closed, so what are we supposed to do with this day off that's been 'given' to us.. oh and if you live in a suburban cul-de-sac there's a damned good chance that your street will be closed off so screaming children can run around and old people can drink rum punch.
This will cost most businesses in the UK & for something that I for one don't give a crap about..

I agree with CarZee there, we employ 6 people, I believe that legally we don't have to honour the day off but for the sake of good will etc of course we will. That means that the Queens jolly little day off will cost us 6 lots of a days wage, (forgetting all the other costs) and with software developers in Cambridge that is not cheap.
As for the Queen not having a day off, bollocks. Yes I do agree that she does a fair bit and I'm sure it's bloody annoying for her watching her Christmas Dinner go cold every year but bloody hell she gets paid well enough for it.
It would be nice if small business/self employed etc, etc who lose out would get some form of compensation but no. Mind you I suppose we are lucky that Gordon has not introduced a special tax to pay for all the parties and bunting.
Fume!

Not in my street, and not while there's a hole in my ass. I didn't move there for all this collaborative cobblers - I'd have gone to a kibbutz if I was into all that nonsense.

What about Driving Dogs for the Banned?
Latest development on rats is that the buggers can be wired up to operate like robots and find people in collapsed buidings etc. The next stage will be computer control for drivers who are terminally crap.
I saw Queen at Wembley years ago. Whats all this about a day off then? Do we get another one when that tw@t Thatcher finally snuffs it?
