I've just been over in Essex with a client and have seen possible the maddest road sign ever. It was one of those brown information ones that said "Brentwood Sports Centre" and then under that "Secret Nuclear Bunker" what is that all about has this country really gone that mad??? Or can anyone claim a madder one ?

Oh yes the thread was meant to read Mad Road Signs but the fat finger syndrome got me and I don't know how to edit that !

ROTFLMAO... If I'd seen that I'd have probably driven off the road laughing!!! A sign like that has got to be dangerous!!

Yeah, I saw that near the M11 Harlow roundabout. Perhaps it's a decoy one hoping to lure the enemy who are looking for the actual secret one...

When I spotted the nuclear bunker sign there was also an advert for a "Psychic convention" or something like that attached to the very same signpost.
Why the hell do psychics need to advertise? I nearly crashed laughing... wish I had a camera with me.

maybe the sign doesn't actually point to a secret nuclear bunker.. it's probably a decoy.. to fool the greenpiecers..

On the A56 near Altrincham, there used to be 2 signs on a lamp-post pointing down towards Dunham:

- Refuse Incinerator
- Crematorium

They eventually moved the latter to a different lamp-post after it appeared on TV (IIRC)...

I've been to the Secret Nuclear Bunker a couple of times now. A very interesting place to visit on a rainy afternoon. Recommended!

Agreed it is a mad sign, but it got your attention!

In Slough there used to be a sign that said:

'Old Morgue - Drop In Centre'

My favourite is from the US though, its at an intersection and there are two signs. One for a place called 'Weed' and one for a place called 'College'.

I imagine many a man has stood at those crossroads (both physically and metaphorically) over the years!

Matt.

At Cheltenham General Hospital they have a one-way system through the internal roads of part of the hospital site.

This leads to the ironically apt signpost that bears the two signs
"Morgue" and
"In Only".

It's quite famous and a lot of you have probably seen it but the sign at the edge of Silverstone village says "Silverstone - Please drive carefully"

I was driving through Fife, just south of St Andrews a couple of weeks ago, there are several signs there to 'secret bunker'.

Must make the golf very difficult.

Down in a small village in Beamish near where I live there is a sign that says "Beware of visitors"
